Currently i'm paying an extra $5.99 with Shaw for Movie Central Express, when MTS offers Movie Central Express FREE with their Movie Central Package.
Shaw: $23.94 for Movie Central MTS: $16.00 MTS called me and tried to get me to switch and asked my current channel package, etc. And they mentioned how Movie Central is more expensive on Shaw and MTS includes Movie Central Express. If I call Shaw will they match this? |

I doubt they would match. Because as soon as the hundereds (thousands??) find out they will want the same deal. Easier to say no to one customer and lose that single one.

I don't think they will match a single item like MC. Shaw's pricing strategy is to compete on overall bundled price. Parsing out MovieCentral doesn't reflect the overall price comparison between MTS and Shaw. If Shaw was getting killed on bundled pricing, they'd respond, but they are likely to do nothing on the price of one a la carte service.

I was a former MTS customer until January when Shaw gave me the incredible $40 for everything package for 3 months. That included all channels except porn, digital phone and high speed internet. But...although, the internet is faster downloading, I'm finding the TV disappointing. The picture isn't great from channels 2-30, and it sucks only having the one TV that will have every channel. My others are just basic cable. Phone not a big deal. We'll see what happens come April, maybe I'll switch back if MTS can give me a good deal. BTW, the flipping when you change the channels are also aggravating and a lot slower than MTS. Shaw's first bill was also massively wrong...they charged me $185 for the first month. I called Shaw and she said to just pay the $40, but I don't even wanna think about next month's bill. She said the bills come out of Alberta and are not aware of the promotion here in Manitoba.

In my opinion the answer to this thread's question is NO. At least not in Calgary.
I have never seen Shaw match MTS. There are some save offers, but none include movie central express. Keep in mind I really only know from the Calgary perspective. I don't work in the Shaw office where you live, so they may have some kind of competitive offer which Calgary does not since MTS is not a competitor here. -ShawTSR |

Shaw will not price match on certain channels....but when it comes to bundling, they are willing to work with you.
I have heard Shaw's current win-back from MTS is 2 free digital terminals, free internet modem and Digital Phone, all with free install, and up to 4 outlets installed, and you get all the channels except adult for 3 months at $40 per month....this was a couple of months ago....but Shaw is willing to give great deals here in Winnipeg to get customers back. As for current customers, you are not gonna see much when calling in to complain, but you may luck out and get a free PPV or something, they just can't afford to price match for current customers, and yes we have all heard the odd "well I got this for 6 months, etc" but those are far and few between.....you want a better price....go to MTS and then come back to Shaw in a few months....
