These audio/video issues (dropouts/sync) have been around since the 9200 and never resolved! I find it worse on certain HD channels (live and recorded). I even noticed that running the audio direct via optical is worse than PCM through my TV.
It's too bad the new software didn't have the ability to allow the user to adjust the audio delay directly via the remote (no menus) (like some home theater tuners have). I know this would be a bandaid, but better than watching a concert and wondering if the artist is really bad at lip syncing. I also wonder if the FTA recievers experience these same issues? I don't mind paying for quality products, but so far Bell falls far short of the bar. Maybe time for a FTA trail. At least when they go down you know why. WWest |

so I returned my second hd pvr 9242 over the weekend to Best Buy and picked up my third brand new one at a Bell store. there has been no freezing picture, but the audio comes in and out sometimes, really annoying. anyone know why this is? and if so, how did you resolve this issue?

so now my third brand new hd pvr is a dud, freezing picture and audio dropouts are happening on this one too. if it didn't cost $600, I would take a baseball bat and smash the **** out of this piece of crap. not sure what to do really, as replacing it a fourth time probably won't fix the problem, just frustrate me even more as the same problems are bound to happen. are there any 9242's out there that actually work like they are supposed to? I'm so fed up and tired of all this. wonder if I should have switched to Shaw or Telus or anyone else but Bell.

I have two 9242's and they work fine. I do not have mine in any audio cabinets, they are on a TV shelf, very well ventilated. I think a lot of problems start when the units get too hot. Is your's well ventilated?

Let me know if this should be here, or in the HTPC thread...
Has anyone had any luck with getting Beyond TV to work with the 9242? I cannot get the IR Blaster to change the channel on this new tuner. My old remotes for the 2700 and 3100 work perfectly on my 6141 , but not the 9242. The codes in the Beyond TV setup wizard as well as those in the Hauppauge IR Blaster config don't work, or I'm not finding the right combination. Why, you ask, would I not want to use the Bell dual tuner? Well, I am researching my options and would like to be able to save and offload my TV shows like I did before I went HD. The quality of the HD recording through the PVR-150 is actually a lot better than what I expected, considering all the conversions that are taking place. Anyhoo - not to confuse the issue - I need to know if anyone is using Beyond TV and the Bell TV 9242 - if so, what IR codes are you using? THANKS |

After having my first 9242 replaced twice, the 3rd one works pretty good. Audio dropouts are my only problem. My newer 9242 is the same, and hasn't been replaced. My 9200 just got replaced for the 4th time.

can3gxw,
First be sure you are using IR code 1 for your receiver. You can check by going into the system info screen. I have mine controlling the 9200 but they use the same remote and I believe I had to pick Echostar in the list when setting up the IR blaster. That should be it. Q |

Sweet... thanks, Q. That did the trick perfectly. I forgot that both the 6141 and 9242 will let you change the receiver's remote address.

Hi everyone,
I was searching for sound skipping problems with the 9242 and found this thread. I see a few places where others have had the same problem when playing back recorded shows but was hoping that someone with a solution or more information could PM me or reply here so I don't have to read all 48 pages of the thread Thanks in advance. |

Audio Solution?
switch to PCM instaed of dolby or use the analog outputs. The sound droputs won't be as noticeable, but you won't get DD 5.1

Thanks, I'll try that. I don't care about DD 5.1 since I don't use it (yet). Is this an issue with every 9242 or just some?

The past few days every time the 9242 is turned on (or re-awakened) the info panel for the current program appears without it having been requested.
After cancelling, it will re-appear (after each cancel) 4 or 5 times. Then it finally gets the message and stops appearing. Then it will start the same behaviour at the next restart. I have tried the usual reset procedure, but this has not addressed the problem. Any ideas? |
