Check out some of the other threads/forums for information on video capture as it is off topic for this thread. The medium you use is entirely up to you, something that gives you appropriate quality for your use at a cost you are comfortable with.

Although getting slightly off topic, you can use "pause/resume" to manually edit out commercials on a non-HDD DVD-R unit. That's what I do.

I have a 9242 receiver and "taped" Hockey Night In Canada on HD, Game 3 of the NHL Stanley Cup final between the Penguins and the Flyers. Game 3 was the first game in the series to be broadcast from Pittsburgh.
I started to view the program while it was still underway and found the frame rate to be very poor. So bad that it was difficult to follow the puck. At the commercial breaks, the picture was clear and the frame rate went back to normal. The US network feed had the normal frame rate, but poorer resolution. Was this problem on CBC-HD originating at CBC or a problem at Bell? Gary |

I noticed that any CBC hockey game is a blur fest when there is motion. I was concerned it was my new LCD TV but pausing the 9242 on scenes when there is a player streaking accross the screen reveals that the player is very blurry and the resolution is poor. Since the video is paused, its not the LCD but its the source. Close up shots of players on the bench etc look great.
I guess the compression ratio is just too high for fast moving sports on EVu |

First my equipment and settings: Sony SXRD/LCOS 60 inch, BEV pvr 9200 model. Channel 802 on BEV. PVR set to 1080i. TV set to custom mode using settings recommended in another thread at DHC.
On my setup I don't notice any blurring during the game whether the action was fast or slow. Picture was steady and sharp all evening. Colours were vibrant and there was no blooming of the red on the Wings uniforms nor any overexposures/whiteouts from the very brief camera flashes noted by other readers. In brief the picture was superb as it always is on the CBC in HD. I continue to be very pleased with my 9200 PVR and BEV service in general. It puzzles me why so many of you have issues when I with similar equipment don't see the same problems. |

802 is one of a few HD channels not manipulated by EV; and is at original 1080I.

I think the HD hockey feeds on CBC are fantastic and have yet to see any (recent) issues. (equipment listed at the left).
There are many settings in both your TV and the receiver that can affect the quality of the image. If I were you, I'd try playing around with them particularly to determine which unit does and does not perform video format conversion. |

About a month ago I installed a 9242. I have 2 dual lnb's running four lines into the garage and they are hooked into a sw44 switch. Two of those lines are hooked into my house's cabling system for downstairs. My house's cabling system is running 6 lines. 2 go downstairs, one to the family room and the other to the spare bedroom, I am running a length of cable from that bedroom to the family room to hook up to my PVR to use Tuner 1. Tuner 2 is not in use and I would like to be able to use it above the family room in the living room. Therein squats the toad, I would prefer that I didn't have to make any more holes in the walls if possible. I am not able to run any cable back through my cabling system because it was all through the floor and would have to run back to the garage and connect with the cable for the living room. Are there any ways to to run the signal back through the outlet in the famiy room and connect with the cable in the garage to the living room cable? I have another line coming from the sw44 switch going to the power inserter and running to the master bedroom that is currently hooked up to a 6141 and I only have SD TV. I have another 9242 that I want to use in the master bedroom but only want to use the SD tuner but in the future would like to be able to use the HD tuner only, soon as I can convince the wife on letting me buy another HDTV. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no way you can install a 9242 with 1 cable. The reason is simple; both cable use two different voltage 13/18 volts each and they switch voltage depending of the transponder selected. so how can you pass 2x 18 volts and 2 x 13 volt trough the same cable ? impossible...

colnot,
I am not sure if I am reading your post correctly but I think you are looking to run the modulated output and satellite on one cable? If so you need two diplexors. Here is a good thread with some info on modulated output. Again I am not sure if I am reading your post correctly but if you are looking for one cable solution for dual tuners you can look here at the DPP twin and here at the DPP 44 switch Just keep in mind using DP/DPP technology is not officially supported by bell and you will need all new lnbs, switch's etc. |

This apply only to legacy receiver like the 9242 and other Bell receivers. Dish are now using dish pro technologie wich use only 18 volts so installation is greatly simplyfied.
