Just had my 9242 installed and either I am daft or the menuing is not friendly.
I searched the forums however it appears the 9242 does not support analogue OTA Channels which the 9200 supported? Us folks outside of Toronto want our local channel and having CH 13 off-air is almost mandatory with BEV.

No, the analog OTA option isn't available on the 9242.
It's made by echostar and most stations in the US are already digital. You could complain to Bell and ask them to replace it with a 9200. Or, I'll bet there are people on here with a recent purchase of a 9200 that would gladly trade you even. Come to think of it, I have a 9200 I'll trade you even. And I can verify the analog and digital OTA tuners work just fine. Send me a PM if you're interested.

So i had my first problem with the 9242 today.
I went to play my recorded Lost episode tonight. At first appearance all seems okay - the PVR menu shows 'Lost' with a time of 1:02. when I play it though it got to about 3 minutes in and simply stops playback - it does the same if I fast forward to that point. It stops at the same place every time and quits to the menu. Luckily I'm in time to catch the midnight show. My other recordings tonight seem to have worked. Anyone have this happen to them before? UPDATE: Also happened with a recording of Eli Stone. Twice in one night, first time ever and I record things every day. Any ideas? Last edited by farmerjoe; 2008-02-21 at 11:58 PM. |

That problem just seems to crop of from time to time. Reboot the reciever and i bet it won't happen for at least another month.

I did do that and recorded the same two shows on the western channels. I was watching Lost on one channel and recording simultaneously on the other hoping that if it happened I might catch a prompt in the programming.
It hasn't happened since the reboot. It seems to be a software issue though. Clearly the record function works as recordings that stop early have accurate timestamps on them, and since other shows I recorded concurrently can play back without issue. Signal also does not seem to be an issue as programs I've recorded during bad weather simply display all the signal noise received during the recording. I have no idea what kind of prompt is coded at the end of a recording to the PVR but somehow it seems to be placing that prompt smack in the middle of a show . |

I have experienced the recording issue again. The first time it hapen, it was with the season finale of The Amazing Race 12 and now it happened with the second airing of the new Knight Rider movie. GRRRRR! Bell says they are aware of the issue and that it is a software problem. There is no ETA though for the next software release and they don't seem to want to provide any more information than that. What a $600.00 POS!

No audio sync or sound dropping issues with mine BUT RCA cables to my home theater. I use HDMI to my TV but I turn off the TV sound.
I experienced the recording and the 'go to live' issues. |

Although I've had the audio dropping issues and other issues in the past. I don't have any issues currently with the receiver replacement I am currently running since the last one decided to overheat majorly. I have been running my brand new replacement for over a week now and it went straight from the factory installed software to software version V180. I am using HDMI as the source.

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone else had a problem with their Daily Schedule on their 9242's? I have been using the "new episode" option to record a lot of my shows and the All Episodes options on 2 shows that air at the same time every day. Yesterday I noticed that a couple of my daily shows had not recorded, I knew that they were on so I checked the schedule and noticed that everything after midnight on Wednesay morning was not schedualed to record. I came home from work today thinking that it just wasn't displaying the schedule for today's shows and it should be fine today. (knowing that I should be seeing at least LOST to be recorded tonight) When I turned on the TV and checked today's schedule it was empty? I could see the recording setup for LOST in the timers list - showing all new episodes if I go to edit it; but when I highlighted it and hit selected it showed no upcoming events. For LOST or any of the other shows I had setup to record either by new or all episodes. I ended up rebuilding all of my recordings by using the search option, going through my events in the timers list, creating new ones and deleting the events that stopped working. This was, as you can imagine, a pain! I checked the users manual in the troubleshooting section (completely useless BTW) and the closest thing I found was I might be close to the max number of timers for the pvr -- (not sure what that is number is; but I only have 12 to 15 reoccurring timers in my receiver). Any one have any thoughts or suggestion should this happen again or has anyone else seen this. |

The same thing started happening here yesterday, it must be a software problem. Even when I manually re-add my shows to be recorded, a few hours later they vanish from the schedule.

This is starting to make me sick, half of my recordings end up not firing, It show that it was recorded but says "signal". Any time i try to record 1 hdtv show and 1 standard def channel show at the same time, one of them doesn't record, anyone else have this happen? I had lost set to record tonight On a Hd channel at 9pm, that recorded, the other show i had set up to record on spike tv did not fire up. This is unaccpetable.
