After much complaining, over the phone and with the online technical help, they've promised to replace my reciever.
I don't expect all problems to be resolved, but i can't belive everbody has all the problems i've had, or they ALL would have been returned. Most problems are solved temporarily buy re-booting. but they always come back.
1. audio dropouts
2. frozen video
3. hdmi out quitting
4. timed recoding not starting
They said they'd ship monday and it would take 3-4 days.

Default Audio sync issues?

Anyone else notice audio sync issues with the 9242? It seems to either get out of sync on SD or HD by a slightly noticable amount. I know there is some audio sunc settign for TV1 in the menus but not sure what this is for or how best to use it, seems like you can only sync to SD or HD which to me makes no sense. I want something tha w orks all the time, not based on what I'm watching. Can someone maybe explain this or how best ot set it up?

I have the receiver connected to my LCD TV via HDMI with audio goign to my AV receiver via the optical out.

I have noticed the audio symc issue as well. A simple reset of the receiver will fix it until it decides to happen again. The audio sync issue is only a secondary issue to the audio dropping issue since the audio dropping issue happens a lot more frequent for me.

Are these units that bad? I'm getting a free install this week and planning on returning my 9200.

The audio sync and the sound completely dropping are the two worst issues with it. It's still a big improvement over the experience I had with the 9200. Hopefully Bell's useless software engineers will get lucky and accidentally solve some of the issues by fluke sometime soon.

Do you actually think Bell writes any software for these units? I'm sure they just take whatever Echostar gives them based on the features Bell requests.

I would figure if EchoStar actually took care of the software that it would actually be more reliable and problem free. The DishNet versions of the software offer a hell of a lot more features and are much less problematic. Whoever writes the Bell software definitely has no clue in what they are doing.

Maybe I have just been lucky, but I don't seem to be experiencing these issues (audio dropout and audio synch issues). I also had good luck with my 9200 before I upgraded. Knock on wood, I am happy with my 9242 so far.

Default 9242 playback issue

Last night i tried watching a movie I PVR'ed. It played until it was 2/3 done or so and then it just goes back to the menu. It still says there is an hour or so left but it just stops. So i tried fast forwarding through the whole movie and it always stops at the same part. I tried another movie and it worked fine. It seems like there may be a issue with that particuler recording. Does anyone have any ideas??

I have had the same problem many times. The time shows that the show was fully recorded but somewhere durring the playback it ends prematurely. Sometimes it only plays back for a few minutes and quit. Looks like this is an issue with the software.

Default a stupid 9242 question??

When you are fastforwarding a program and the progress bar is on the screen, what does the darker blue area of the bar mean?? It seems to get bigger and smaller. i just can't seem to find anything about it in the manual and was wondering what it was for.

Thanks

I have had that with my 9200 - Started the movie over again and FF to where i left off or just past that point. Sometimes i have to exit to live viewing of a channel first. Happens about once a month?

Likely a signal fade issue. Lots of snow has accumulated near or on some of our dishes. My signal dies for about and hour or two yesterday but came back on its own.

Default 9242 "no signal"

We purchased a 9242 receiver from Bell in December, had the installation last month. We had a snow storm last Wednesday. Thursday during the day the receiver worked. Turned on the tv Thursday night, suddenly the picture disappeared and only the power light on the receiver remained on and get a "no signal" message on the tv. I pushed the reset button to no avail. I've talked to three technicians and have checked cable connections and unplugged the unit several times to no avail. Our other tv is connected to a 3100 and it continues to work. I'm frustrated. Any ideas?

Can you unplug your SW44 switch and try that?
