Had a friend with the smartcard/reboot problem and he was able to exchange it at FS even though it was activated.

If you never tell them it is activated, then they might exchange it, otherwise they should refuse.

Nothing to loose by trying.

Well just went to FS and they exchanged it for me. And he had no problem with it being already activated.

The Toslink optical connection on the Sony KDL46W3000 is output only. It's not an input. This is for outputting digital audio when using the ATSC tuner.

After 2 months of perfect operation, the 9242 is missing alot of my pvr recordings now, they are set up but they don't start. Shame.

I posted a couple weeks ago about my 9242 not recording the full program, Over the past two weeks it's only recorded Half of ( American Gladiators on the NBCHE ) 2 times over two weeks, Tonight both , American Idol ( FOXHE ) and Law and Order ( NBCHE ) did the same thing. I've deleted all of my recievers programs set for recording from the PVRs memory and changed them from New programs to Weekly to record on different channels at a new timeslot to see if that affects anything? It's so strange I don't know if it's one of the Tuners or a certain Timeslot as everytime I record the later channel after I realize it's incomplete there isn't a problem.

I'm not using the reciever at all in some of the instances.

How did they help you fix the sync issue?

peterhefer1, It's good to know I'm not alone. Well, maybe "good" is not the right characterization. A number of recordings lately, both SD and HD have simply stopped about half way through, even though the information indicates the full length of the program.

It is usually the same shows, though a large number of them, including "American Idol", "American Gladiators", "The Biggest Loser", and probably most frustratingly, "Terminator".

So essentially, I have an HD PVR that needs to be baby sat, or I have to record every show twice, and just hope that one of the two makes it to the end. Unfortunately, in my case, the time-shifted recordings often stop too.

I haven't made the call for support yet, but when I get to it, I'll let you know what they have to say.

I get the audio dropouts as well. It's definitely one of the most irritating thing with these receivers currently. Having to reboot the reciver is a bit part of what makes it irritating.

Are you saying that rebooting the receiver, fixed your audio dropouts issue?

No, not at all! It just solves it temporarily until it happens again. It's a redundant process that can happen often some days. One night while watching Futurama on YTV, I ended up resetting the receiver 3 times before the half hour show was over. Other nights, I don't have it at all. It's so randon.

Since rebooting the receiver wasn't helping you, wouldn't it be just easier to hit the back 15 seconds button? The audio portions that I miss are normally there again when I go back and play that section again.

Yes but to get the audio back at all. I have to reboot the receiver. In doing that I lose the portion of the show that was on while the receiver was being reset.
