peano, I think you're right, I was going from memory - it must be a 5100. Thanks to both of you who replied.

Now that I think of it, I also have an old 3100 back there - I guess I could hook it up to the other line and put another TV on the other side of the wall...

Default 9242 HDMI...

Hi all,

9242 question.....

my reciever is hooked to a 51" toshiba hdtv through hdmi....

My New projector has hdmi, and i would like to connect that as well....Not to be watched simultaneously...its either 1 or the other as the proj screen pulls down in front of the tv....

I bought an hdmi splitter....but as soon as i plug more than 1 hdmi cable into it....it goes black.....this is just a simple non powered y cable like device

How would i go about getting hdmi to both sources?... or is it even worth it???

.....is there any difference in quality between hdmi and component...i know (as i was doing this with the old projector) that i can simultaneuously run both hdmi and component.....tv got hdmi, projector got component.....not worried bout audio as that is handled by an optical cable......

sorry if this is in the wrong forum....

Cheers

Paul

Thankks

Paul

you'll not notice any difference between hdmi and component.

Yeah, there shouldn't be any difference but if you want HDMI, use a powered switch, maybe from monoprice.

Hi people....

I have recently come across a 9242. The only draw back is that no remotes came with it.

I have purchased 2 used remotes (numbered 1 and 2) elsewhere. What I cannot find anywhere is the procedure to take to get the 2 remotes to operate the 9242. All I find is to program the remote to work the TV.

Right now they wont even power it on.

Any advice appreciated.

Open the Door on the Right Hand Side of the 9242's front panel. Press Sys Info.

You can now see what the Remote Address's are for BOTH Remotes.

Either set the Remotes to these address's or just try pressing the Record Button whilst on that screen. The numbers on screen will then change to the Code in each Remote.

just tried this and still nothing....

I also looked up the manual for the 9242 and checked the steps for programming the remotes. Followed the steps and nothing.

Wondering if anyone has had this problem and what steps were taken?

Well Remote #1 should be IR and that should work as long as you can see the Receiver. Any IR Bell Remote will do the basics.

Remote #2 is UHF Pro, make sure you have the Antenna on the rear of the Receiver.

What Remote Address, did System Info show for the 2 Tuners.?

Thanks Pinza....

Just got it to work..... the antenna was not on the back of the receiver!!! All addresses on the receiver are on 1.

I noticed something though..

what is the difference between the 6.0 and 6.2 UHF remotes?

Default 9242 Green Light for TV1

Hi folks, I've been having some issues with my 9242. On the front panel for TV1 the green light comes on when I power it up. The fan comes on and the light for about 5 seconds, then the fan shuts off, light remains on. Then the fan will come on like its booting up, it will run for about 20 seconds and then the cycle continues. I know its not the hard drive because I took it out and put in in another 9242 in which the harddrive is toast and it works fine. Anyone out there have any idea what the issue is. Any help would be appreciated.

Has anyone else had this problem or am I alone here? Somehow I doubt it with all of Bell's experiences(problems) with their receivers.

So you've already tried booting it with the hard drive disconnected?

Colnot - it sounds like your 9242 is defective. Be sure to do a full power cycle and try removing the satellite cables while it boots. If you can't get a picture and it continuously reboots, it's probably defective.

Since it's not the hard disk, you could try opening it up and re-seating any socketed chips or cards. It's a long shot but worth a try.

Have the same problems with my Bell TV Model 9242. In one year they have replaced 5 units. They just sent me a replacement yesterday that does not even start up. Very, very frustrated with Bell. They told me that they are not making this model anymore because of major problems. So they are suggesting I accept the model 9241 as a replacement. Same features as model 9242 except no PIP. Unfortunately that is the feature that made me buy it in the first place
