Nintendo today announced the arrival of Wii Play, a collection of nine new games in the Wii Sports style that lets players fish, play pool or shoot targets with the motion-sensitive Wii Remote which is packaged with the game.
Wii Play includes games like Fishing, which uses the Wii Remote like a fishing rod; Billiards, which uses the Wii Remote as a pool cue; and Shooting Range, a target practice game played in the style of the classic Duck Hunt game from the Nintendo Entertainment System. Other games include Table Tennis (use paddles to rally for points), Charge! (control a charging cow), Tanks! (a tank battle) and Laser Hockey (use the Wii Remote as an air hockey paddle). Two games make extensive use of players' Mii caricatures. Pose Mii asks players to orient their Miis in a variety of different positions to match silhouettes, while Find Mii requires them to locate specific Miis within an ever-growing crowd. Wii Play, which comes packaged with a Wii Remote controller, is available for $49.99 in the U.S. and $59.99 in Canada. The game is Rated E for Everyone.

getting it today. i have read the games are no where near as good as or have the depth level of wii sports. I am mainly buying it to have the 4th remote and give my kid a few extra games to play while I am on vacation in DR next week.

I picked it up last night. mainly for the extra wiimote. Quite pleased with the "mini games", especially like the laser hockey and the cow racing!

I picked up my pre-ordered copy yesterday. The games are alright, very simplistic though, would be nice if they were a bit more detailed. However it is still fun, and it being packed with a wiimote is always a bonus.

I also picked it up last night. Simple yet fun. These are great games to pull out when people are over and a few beers are consumed.

anybody know if the game comes packaged without the remote? We already bought 3 extra remotes over the holiday to play 4 player games and don't need the extra remote.

Yep Wii play has the mini games disc as well as a Wii Remote. A Wii remote by itself is $45 I believe. Wii Play is $58 to $60 (depending on where you buy) total so the mini games are only $13 to $15 + taxes extra over buying just an extra remote by itself.
I bought my copy this morning at my local walmart for $58. They seemed to have good stock of it this morning at least. |

any interest in creating a post with our high scores for each event? I can take care of updating the 1st post to keep the scoreboards if you want. Beats trying to beat myself all the time. Ok, that sounded bad...

I like the minigames a lot more than some online reviewers! The shooting game is fun, and that laser hockey will be fun in 2-player. For some reason, I really dig that cow racing as well.
I waited for this game before buying a fourth remote. The minigames are worth the extra $10 or whatever. |

Bought Wii Play yesterday. The extra remote was the big factor for me since it's so hard to find Wii accessories anywhere (still looking for an extra nunchuk). However, some of the games are quite fun when playing against someone else (not so much fun by yourself). Me and my wife had a blast at Laser Hockey and Fishing last night. She couldn't stop laughing.
One more addition to my "party games" kit. |

I preordered 3 WiiPlay back in begining of January. I picked them up today. Haven't played it yet. I sold one and am selling the second

Well today in the Calgary Hearld in the Entertainment section they reviewed Wii Play today; I was pretty disappointed with the review. They gave the game 1.5 stars out of 4 which i believe is way to low. I love that game!
