Default Shaw vr Rogers, A real story

Below is an observation on both HD content and equipment by Shaw vrs Rogers. Please, opinions welcome.

I have been receiving HD broadcast since the day there were only 2 HD channels back east in Toronto. When I moved west 5 months ago there were over 30+ channels of HD and lots of good regular channels not to mention and my Scientific Atlanta HD PVR "Dual tuner" could record 2 HD shows while I watched a third. I could also record to DVD "all" channels in 480. All this and with the "Rogers Rental" of the HD PVR, when a "new" PVR model came out I just exchaged it with Rogers and stayed current with the best gear.

Hmmm , I was surprised when I got to Vancouver and started dealing with Shaw...it was really like a step backwords in time. First only 16 HD channels? Motorola 1 tuner PVR? Have to purchase instead of renting ( and get stuck with ancient gear)? Also been hearing about DVD recording problems with shaw through the Motorola STB.

I really think Shaw should get with it out here in Vancouver. For the first time in 5 years I do not recieve HD nor do I intend to subscribe untill the HD channels and gear quality picks up out here. It's hard to go backwards!

FYI, Shaw has far, far better customer support than Rogers. A person actually picks up the phone out here!
cheers
Dave

Well, for what it's worth, Shaw PVRs are actually dual tuners. I'm not sure how you were misinformed about it, but this whole business of recording 2 and watching a third show is something I do regularly at home.

I believe in the early days, there was a 6208 that only had a single tuner, but the new boxes are 6416s (dual tuner). Also, BEV may be an option.

This should not turn into a Shaw/Rogers/BEV thread, since this isn't the correct forum for that, but clearing up some misconceptions and clarifications regarding Shaw are welcome.
