Alright here is the storey. I recievntly bought a HD-XA1 and had it hooked-up using the 5.1 analog outs to my RX-V1400. I noticed that during some scenes with certain HD-DVD's the sub output was bad. Not low, I know that can be a problem. But more like "clipping" in the sub. It was kind of like a Loud muffled clapping. It was especially noticable in the "Rooftop Symphony" chapter of V for Vendeta.
So today I decided to get a new sub as I figured my Paradigm PS-1000 just could handle the base in the lossless tracks. I picked up a Servo-15 for a good price. I was pumped and figured when I got home my theater would be all fixed. No go. I still get that horrible sub sound using the 5.1 analog in on the RX-V1400. So, I decieded to see if it was a faulty cable. I changed the cables. No Go. I decieded that maybe it was the HD-XA1. So I put in my Pioneer 581A DVD player and used the 5.1 analog outs on that one with a V For Vendeta DVD on the same scene. No Go. Crappy sub sound still there. If I use the digital sound in it works fine. Sweet base. Especially with the Servo. Too bad it has to go back. Can't really afford a $2700 sub that dosen't fix the problem. So, anyone have any ideas. I have used the Mult-Chan In on this reciever before for some SACD and DVD-Audio and it seemed to work fine. But now it seems to be really messed up. Do you think it needs to be brought in for service? Thanks in advance for your thoughts. PS Sorry for the lenght just wanted to avoid any Did you try this questions when I already tried it. |

I use a Pioneer 578A DVD-A/SACD player with the multi-channel inputs on the RXV-1400 and have no issues. Have you tried adjusting checking/adjusting your sub output through the receiver configuration menu?

Yeah. I have spent weeks on this issue. Using a sound meter and Avia for multiple calibrations. Like I said I have used the Mulit-Channel inputs before without a problem. With a pioneer 581a and my panasonic DVD-S77. Both worked fine. It is a recent issue. But I am pretty sure that it's a problem with the reciever since I have tried changing every setting I can find on the reciever. Plus, it's not an overpowering of the sub (especially the servo-15 that thing is a tank) because it can happen even at low volumes. Anyway, I think it's going in for service or a possible upgrade to mabey a RX-V2700 or a denon 2807
