Has anyone spotted the PS3 "Blu Ray" Remote in Canada yet?

I don't think it's available anywhere yet.

Apparently a lot of people down south have seen it at their local Gamespot/EB Games selling for $24.99

Default blu ray remote

Anyone heard anything about the release of the blu ray remote yet? I thought it was supposed to come out in December.

Some people in the US have been able to buy the remote at their local EB Games/Gamestop since just before Christmas.

It's beautiful, BTW. Works like a charm.

Don't know why people hate the look. Seems classic Sony to me.

Picked mine up in Ottawa at FS.

The prices weren't marked on the racks, and I was expecting to maybe pay $30 given they're going for $25 in the U.S.

$40 was a bit of a shock when they scannned it!

Compare a Sixaxis controller: $50 in the U.S, $60 in Canada.

Is this a Future Shop mark up, or is Sony Canada gouging the Blu Ray camp?!

Talking Got Mine!!!

Just came back from FS (in Ottawa). They had about 20 of them on display. They must have got them today because the price wasn't even indicated (it's $39.99).

I'm one happy camper now! Using the Sixaxxis for BD playback was getting frustrating.

BTW, you need S/W version 1.30 or higher and you need to pair it which takes about 1 minute. Works really well.

I think it is:

1) Typical $x9.95 SRP

US$29.95 -> CDN$39.95. It stinks, but it happens all the time.

Look at the players: $499 -> $699 and now $599. Sammy for $999 -> $1299.

2) The PS/3 itself is only CDN$50 above US list (~10%). So, consider this evening things a bit.

30->40 might be ok, but they're actually only 25 in the U.S.

I just expected the same "markup" as the PS3 and other PS3 accessories such as the Sixaxis.

Ah well, I guess Sony can consider this my evidence of support for Blu Ray.

I still blame you, however. Thankfully.
I just got my PS3 remote yesterday from buying it on ebay ( not available in Canada just yet ) It worked great and is needed for blu ray playback. Too bad it is bluetooth as I have a Harmony 880 and probably can't use that.

I downloaded a few movie trailers and they looked awesome in 1080i on my Hitachi 51G500 TV ( HDMI to DVI ). I bought / watched MI 3 too. Now I just need a 55-60 inch 1080p TV and I am set.

Speaking of blaming..my brother hasn't blamed me for him having to buy a new TV. I got him a 20 GB PS3 for Christmas.
