Default It's Cold on the Prairies

The winter storm that battered Western Canada this week and caused havoc for travellers is being blamed for at least four deaths in Saskatchewan and B.C. as temperatures plummeted across the regions.

Current Temperature in Winnipeg at 7am Friday Jan 12 is -35 with a windchill of -48. Most Schools outside the city have been cancelled, but only school buses in some schools in the city are cancelled, and all schools in Winnipeg remain open.

Its nice out there....

My pipes were frozen today in Winnipeg, so no hot shower for me today yet.

High of +8° here in Toronto today. But I can see -23° in the forecast for one night next week, so it looks like it's heading this way. Which will be a bit of a shock, given that we are yet to actually see any snow here - at least more than a brief flurry that doesn't accumulate ... hmm, I haven't even found my snow-shovel yet!

I love the cold. Love that sharp crisp feeling of cold air filling the lungs. Not particularily fond of frost bite however!

I think they've just been spolied so far this year. These sound like fairly normal conditions for the Prairies for this time of year.

Not any more. Winter arrived, finally, in Southern Ontario over night. Temperature dropped about 10 degrees in the night, and will generally be seasonal or below seasonal temperatures until at least near the end of January.
