I have read that the native resolutiuon for my set is 720p and understood that you should feed it that resolution to get the best quality.
I am finding that I get far superior PQ by setting my BEV 6100 (DVI) and upconverting LG7832 DVD (DVI/HDMI) to 1080i instead. I'd be interested in hearing what other owners of these sets are finding. Thanks ! |

Based on feedback on these forums, most HDTVs, even those that are 720P native, often seem to provide a better picture when fed 1080i instead of 720P. This may be because most channels broadcast 1080i and the manufacturer knows this.
This may not be true if the TV fails the bobbing test: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=44096

Thanks to you both for the info and the links. While 1080i does give me the best picture, my only reason for considering the 720p option is that only when using this resolution can I get access to the "Expanded" mode in the TV screen size settings. This mode, according to what I have read on this site and others, reduces any overscan.
Is there another way to adjust for overscan, other than a full ISF calibration(which I keep considering) ? |
