I have seen the Rogers-branded DCT 6200s for sale at FS for $200-300. Of course you would have to buy these in Ontario or somewhere other than BC. Could you use these boxes on Shaw?

The Rogers 6200 did not have the card slot on the front. Also, I wonder if there would be some kind of agreement between the cablecos preventing this as they have been known to collude in the past...

Sure makes you wonder about the difference in pricing when FS has the Rogers DCT-6200 on sale this week for $150 and the Cogeco DCT-6412 on sale for $400. Yet the Shaw DCT-6416 remains at the staggering price of $748!!

Sometimes these prices are "loss leaders" in order to increase the number of digital subscribers.
Rogers often will either include or give away or "credit" the Digital STBs in order to increase subs. For many years they've even given away (free rental for life or 2 years) HD DVRs, STBs, etc. to those that "ditch the dish".
