At these sizes, what I love the most is the fact that it will seriously push down the price of 500 GB drives and that just makes me giddy like a school girl.

I can just hear my DVDs being ripped to online storage now...

500GB drives (Seagate) are already down to $199, when on sale.

Can't beat Seagate 320GIG SATA300 16meg buffer 5 year warranty for 109$ regular price (not online, regular walk in store so no shipping).

Can you image a 4 drive 3TB Raid 5 server!

I currently running 2.7 TB using 15 hard drives.
11 x 200g + 1 x 300g JBOD for movies
2 x 160g mirror for personal data
1 x 80g for OS and Music

Replace all that with just 4 drives .... amazing

That's amazing and frightening all at the same time.

I mean what else could back up 1TB of space other than another 1TB drive?

You're looking at making RAID standard in consumer level PC's with drives at that size NVM how long it would take to defrag a drive of that size once it gets messed up?
