Default Yamaha RX-V1500 Problem

Well this morning my RX-V1500 turns on then shuts itself off after about 3 seconds. I have tried unplugging everything and moving the receiver to a new plug as well. nyone have any suggestions? I bought the unit in 2004 and believe Yamaha only has a 1 year warranty.

Check for shorts across the speaker terminals (stray strands of copper if you were using bare speaker wires). Otherwise, if you've got everything unplugged (at the receiver) it sounds like time to get some estimates.

If doing what WestCDA doesn't fix it try opening up the unit and checking the fuses. You may also want to unplug and reseat any circuit / driver cards.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I have tried a few things. I took the cover off and checked the fuses and they seem to be fine. I can only locate 2 that are close to the power plug board. Not sure what else I can do at this point. Wow playing the 360 and my HD-DVD's is going to be a real chore tonight. No repair shops open here on Sundays in NS.

I had a similar problem once on my Yamaha 1400. I had to disconnect my power bar from the wall outlet to get it going again (it's one of those big Monster Power Centers). I couldn't understand what was going on. I finally moved the 1400 to another power outlet and it worked. That's when I narrowed it down to the power bar. It's been fine since.

Yeah I wish it was that simple for mine. I have a Monster power center as well. Tried another outlet on its own...no go.
