Question Motorola DCT3080 (from Shaw) - PIP Capable?

Hello everyone. I've been searching the forums and haven't seen a post regarding PIP capabilities and the new Motorola DCT3080 PVR, so if this has been answered already, please accept my apologies for this post.

Motorola states that this system has PIP capabilities due to the dual tuner (if I understand this correctly). My problem is, it doesn't appear to work. I can see the Guide with the TV show in the corner (if that's considered PIP), but I can't watch 2 shows at the same time. Before I go digging too deep, I was wondering if this a Shaw issue, DCT3080 issue, or a "user" issue. Is this something that is not part of the firmware with Shaw or am I completely reading its PIP capabilities incorrectly?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Hi albertasky and welcome to the DHC Forums:

There is already an existing FAQ with useful links regarding Motorola STBs, here:

http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=21274

Please take the time to read them as they are filled with information that can help you.

In future, please so a search and post in the appropriate thread. There already exists a Shaw Cable thread where the Motorola STBs are also discussed.

Actually the thread is here for the new SD PVR:

I believe the PIP only occurs when looking at the guide. It is not the watch 2 channels at once kind of pip.

Much thanks cgyclaytonmagnet...I believe I'm starting to understand the PIP feature. I reviewed a link to Shaw's HD-PVR (here) which seems to have answered most of my questions.

Thanks for the tip!
