Default Anyone have this setup? (9200, Yamaha, Pioneer with HDMI)

Pioneer PDP-5070HD or maybe the new Elite if the price comes down.
Yamaha HTR6090B receiver.
Bell ExpressVu 9200.

I'd like to connect everything using HDMI.

Would the above work smoothly together?

Thanks.

Lightbulb Too many problems with HDTV at this time?

I just canceled my order for what was to be my first component in my new HD home theater system. (receiver Yamaha HTR-6090).

I was prepared to spend about $10,000 on a HD home theater, but there are so many issues out there with audio/video dropouts, audio/video sync problems, HDMI incompatibilities, feeds from service providers that freeze (I saw this happening on a friends new $7,000 system with a Bell 6100 - man would I be pissed), signals that are said to be HD, but have very low bitrates, and I could go on and on.

I would like to thank this site, and others like it, for the education. It really goes far beyond some manufacturer's glossy pamphlet.

I'm still itching to put a HDTV system together, but it is discouraging, having learned about all these potential problems.

How about this idea: Someone start a new thread titled something like "This home theater system actually works!" and list all your components, and just as important, how they're all connected? The system must have zero problems, as we should expect from a multi-thousand dollar system.

Thanks.

If you want a perfect system you're going to have to wait a few years. New technology takes time to work all the kinks.

In future, please post in existing threads. you don't need to start a new thread for each of your posts.

If you think there are issues with HDTV now, then you should have seen it 4 or 5 years ago.

The problem with forums that are geared towards offering help like this one is that you are more likely to see "problem" threads than you are "it works" threads because who needs help if it works, right?

The other thing is that there are so many people who are simply uneducated (or poorly educated) about the technology that they either have it hooked up incorrectly or have overly high expectations. The marketeers from various service and/or equipment providers don't help in this cause.

FWIW, I have a fully loaded HT that runs just fine.

61" plasma
Xbox 360 + HD-DVD add on.
HTPC
LaserDisc player (Gasp!)
VCR
Rogers HD PVR
5.1 surround sound
Single integrated remote to control them all.
