Saddam Hussein Hanged
Saddam, we hardly knew ye! Well, those of us who did not shake your hand and support your regime and help you to be all that you could be...

Watching CNN, people are PRAISING and DANCING in the streets.
The Iraqi people seem happy about this justice. I don't think it truly matters what we North Americans think, its the Iraqi's opinion that matters, and they look happy about this. |

Yep, the Iraqi people are praising and dancing.
Good for them. Now, the news is reporting it was taped. I can't wait for this to be leaked to the internet so I can see it! |

Dancing in the streets just like after the toppling of the statue more than 3 years ago... Tomorrow Bush will be congratulating them (Iraqi people) and himself yet again... Mission Accomplished II... yeah right.

Wait:
CNN UPDATE: The hanging was video taped and it WILL BE DISTRIBUTED TO THE MEDIA. I will provide a web source when I find one. This was mentioned on CNN, Anderson Cooper. Edit: The Iraqi media, state television. What am I thinking, they will never put that on tv here. BUT, it will be leaked on the web for sure. Last edited by westmanguy; 2006-12-29 at 11:41 PM. |

And, your comment about not be able to wait to watch the video of someone being hanged is just sick. |

What, why shouldn't I be able to bask in the glory of another evil dictator being hanged.
I think it further allows for TRUE justice if all the world gets to see this man dieing and dead. |

Because it's crass. It defiles humanity. It's undignified. It's bloodthirsty. It has nothing to do with justice, but everything to do with vengeance.

Well? Whats wrong with that.
sometimes we need to get dirty and bask in the vengeance of another human dieing, especially was as awful and indecent as Saddam. I can't wait for the videos to surface. I'll have to email all my friends and family the video. Wesmanguy, typically Canadian. |

Ding dong ,Saddam is gone...
But for some reason a few people here think it's not his fault he was a ruthless dictator and the millions dead at his hands was the US' fault???? [flippant remark] It was those Americans. Ya that's it. They made him do it. Burn the flags, close the US consulate, seal the border before they invade Canada. Seriously, he got what he deserved. Here's one for the anti death penalty crowd. You guys keep arguing the 3 M's in your defence. Let me ask you this. Do you doubt Paul Bernardo's guilt? Last edited by HT gearhead; 2006-12-30 at 10:41 AM. |

For some reason, many people have chosen to ignore the undisputable evidence that the U.S. - and other Western nations - openly supported and did plenty of business with a man they knew to be a ruthless dictator.
They were well aware that he killed - in the case of the war with Iran, they actually helped him to kill - but they smiled, shook his hand, called him a friend and an ally...and kept on doing business with him. And yet, for some reason, many people have chosen to accept the fact that no one from the U.S. - or other Western nations - should have to pay for their roles in the dictator's crimes. Many people have a strange notion of what constitutes justice.

I don't deny the US's involvment in Iraq's affairs nor are they blameless but nobody made Saddam commit murder on a massive scale. It boils down to who pulled the trigger.

The video of him being led to the rope is strange in that Saddam doesn't have a hood but everyone else does.
I'm no expert but I would have thought it would be the hangee with the hood (I understand Saddam refused it) and the guards without. |
