As m3repair says, it can be done but my question is why not just use a 2 x 4 switch inside and just run 2 lines from the 91 LNBF. The 3100's can see nothing from 82 anyway.

This would cost around $10 for a switch.

Thanks for the info m3. I wasn't too sure if they'd work with a DPP lnb.

Pinza, I'd like to keep the ability for him to get the HD sets in the future without me having to go back and install another lnb and/or switch, besides I can get a DPP QUAD for $40 to $60 where I live.

I have a friend tbat right now is using a single LNB with a 3100. Can ge change out the LNB for a DPP Twin? I know you can't have just 1 2700 connected to DPP Twin. But can you have just 1 3100 on it. He wants to get a 9241 to replace the 3100 at a later date.

Default 9242 and Dish 500 Twin LNB

I'd like to know if we can use a Dish 500 Twin LNB with a 9242 receiver to get 91 and 82?

Yes I think you should get 91 and 82 with the Dish twin.

Pretty sure you will need to run 2 lines.

So my friend can use just one 3100 receiver on a DPP Twin. 3100 receiver is not a legacy receiver it has DP on the back.correct?

And later replace the 3100 with a 9241.

Ok read the following thread:
http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=151219

And a 3100 by itself can be connected to a DPP Plus Twin

Default changing form a 9242 to 2 singel recievers

My 9242 went kaput yesterday after 4 years of service to me.
I guess I am now going to have to get a single reciever for each tv in the house now.
My question is- Can I just buy the 2 new recievers and just plug and play after activating them from Bell? Will the existing setup with all the cabling and the dual LNB on the roof be the same?

The existing cabling should work, once a new RG6 is run/connected to the receiver at the second TV. Legacy equipment will be fine as is. Just be aware that DPP splitters only work with dual tuner receivers so a second line is necessary with DPP equipment.

Are you aware that Bell will provide a refurbished 9242 receiver for $150? That's a cheaper option if available.

Default Newbie question about LNB

Is LNB 82 the electronically the same as LNB 91 ? When I bought LNB 82 the guy just grabbed one out of the box and said this will work. More questions to come after I get an answere.

Default new home no switch

hi all

i am running my bell system through window cracks stuffed with towels.

i have a dish 500 and two 6131 recievers. the knb is as large single unit not two individuals, it says dpp

when i try to connect one feed to the central junction box in my garage i cannot get a signal to any receiver in any room. obviously my wife is not impressed, i am very rural so there is no installers.

as it is averything works but i would love to know which swicth or splitter i should get , then ie one or two feeds from dish to splitter or switch then connect to coax in junction box and CLOSE WINDOWS! YAY

thanks

B
