Hi JoeLouie,
I guess they are recommended if installed outside because of the weather? If its the weather only wouldn't a cap be just as good? |

I always put terminators on any unused port on switches outside. I find that the plastic caps don't always fit properly and they can still allow moisture into the switch. Plus after a few years of being outside in the sun they tend to get kinda fragile and break easily, where the terminators pretty much stay exactly where they're supposed to be.

That is exactly why I use them all the time too.

Just want to say thanks to Pinza for the pic, installed exactly the way you have it in the pic and everything works perfectly. Always had one tv missing HD channels and another TV missing SD channels. Even had a bell certified tech here and he couldn't figure it out. Thanks again!

Hi, I currently have a 9200 which I am replacing with the 9242 and I was wondering if the 9242 still requires that power adapter on one input as the 9200 receiver does ? Thanks

Yes it does. The power inserter is required for the switch.

Hi All, I live in Resolute Nunavut, I should start out by saying that I am not familiar with Bell Installs, and fairly familiar with Shaw (set up my own 2 dish PVR system up here) I am trying to help a friend install a bigger dish for bell. She had a 60 cm dish that was receiving minimal signal on 91. So we got her a 90CM dish and Dual LNB from down south (according to the store it is the correct LNB for Bell) I ensured the mast is plumb, post is vertical at 90 degrees, got the rough estimate of where 91 is (compasses do not work up here as we are to close to the pole). No matter which way I move the dish, up /down, side to side, The signal bar never moves. Now I know my elevation needs to be at 6.8 BUT my issue is the dish does not have an arrow or anything on the elevation scale showing me what the elevation is at. All I have to go by is the bolt, and I don't know if I should use the center of the bolt, the front or the back of the bolt to tell me where I am. But none the less, nothing is making the signal move from 0 ont he point dish screen. Any tips?? With shaw, even if the dish is not aligned, you will get a 10-12% on the signal bar to tell you that the LNB and receiver are communicating per say. Is that not the case with Bell? Wondering if it could be a cable issue. With Shaw I can line up a dish within a few minutes, but I played with this thing for about 3 hours with no success!

When you say "Dual LNB" what are you referring to? The LNB that was on the original dish should have been able to be used unless the mount was different.
Without HD, the 4100 is SD only, you only have to go for the satellite at 91 W, and use TP 11 or anything else but not TP 5 as the 4100 cannot see TP 5. Last edited by dirtroad; 2011-11-25 at 05:19 PM. Reason: 4100 comment |

the mount is different, I was using transponder 1...buy dual I mean 2 receiver outputs. My concern is after I tried the 90cm dish, I retried the 60cm bell dish that was already pre set to the right elevation, and still got nothing as I changed azimuth back and forth, maybe it was a cable issue?? Thats why its nice with Shaw that they at least allow you to see that the LNB and receiver are "talking" with that 10-12% if you get 0% with shaw, it means a connection is wrong or the LNB is dead i believe.. I will try another receiver and new cable also tonight

tried again tonight, nothing at all worked, literally tried for 4 hours. What struck me wierd is that I put the original dish back on that HAD been working 2 months earlier ( no i did not confirm it was working prior to taking the old dish off). Since then, a new duplex was constructed and is approx 20 yards from the dish location and directly in the line of site, so not sure if that is enough to block the whole signal. Elevation is 6.6

At an elevation of 6.6 its for sure possible to have the duplex blocking the signal...

Danny001, go to dishpointer and check the options box for line of sight checker (right upper of google earth map) . You can drag the second location and it will calculate the height of obstacles you can see the satellite over.
I did it for Resolute and 20 metres from obstacle and came up with about 2.3 metres or 7 foot 6 inches, so the Duplex probably is in the way depending on how high the dish is from the ground, is there anyway to raise where the dish is located? |
