Default VS N3752W vs. Daytek LM37??

Has anyone done a comparison between the VS N3752W vs. Daytek LM37 available at Costco?

Any comments on which offers the best video quality for use with 720P sources from Expressvu 6100 and Xbox 360?

Glad you asked, because that's exactly what I did

Viewsonic - better looking colours, but couldn't get the sharpness low enough, everything had lots of "jaggies" as soon as there was movement on screen.
Also, if you weren't looking straight-on, the picture quality degraded a lot.
Also, I hated the menu setup, and adjustment.
On the plus side, it did have 3 HDMI, as well as the usual component, s-video, RGB, etc. inputs. And I like the overall look of the unit (the "all-black" look nice).

Daytek - everything I knocked the Viewsonic for, this one does better: sharpness isn't an issue anymore (I was able to dial it down so that everything looks smooth); great picture even while viewing from way off to the side; much better menu; volume had much better gradation (the Viewsonic sometimes, if I wanted it to be quiet because I didn't want to wake anyone, even at "1", it was too loud).
On the bad side, the tint is too red (or else everyone on tv lately is really embarrassed), and there's no tint adjustment.
Also, on the HDMI input, you can only adjust color and contrast - no sharpness or color adjustment. And the silver/black cabinet/casing it's in doesn't look quite as nice as the Viewsonic.

Verdict - Daytek...and it really wasn't much of a contest. I have to remind myself sometimes that everyone's a bit too red, whereas with the Viewsonic, everything I watched, I noticed the "too-much sharpness" issue.

Hope that helps.
(oh yeah - no Xbox here, but I am using 720p out of my BEV 9200).

Just got a viewsonic, after looking at both of them in Costco.
There is a slight color 'wash' when viewed from the side, but, nothing alarming.
The sharpness 'issue', I did not notice. I found the adjustment to more than adequate.
The Daytek non tint control was an issue, and, it had an ugly looking case compare to the VS. i foung PQ not nearly as good as the VS, so, it was a no brainer for me, the Viewsonic wins, and won my purchase!

So one vote for each

The Daytek is suppose to have 1600:1 contract over the 1000:1 of the VS, is this noticable or purley marketing?

Also seems Costco is now sellign the 3760w at some locatiosn for same price, is it the same as the 3752 and 3751?

Still not sure which is the best, I guess they are on par forthe msot part from all I have read.

Any more comments on the VS 3752W? Was jsut at local Costco and that is the only 37" they had so trying to decide on this or to wait.

Has anyone used it with an hdmi adapter with a Expressvu 6100 receiver?
Hows the quality for this and also for Xbox 360? Those will be the two uses.

Only issue I see is it only has a single Component input but 3 HDMI and a VGA. Wonder which would be best for receiver and 360?

I had a 32" Prima before I bought the VS N3752s, and used an HDMI/DVI adapter and didnt good results with my 6100. Now, with the VS, I tried it again, and, still, not the best results. I now go through the component, and, the HD is awesome, with some tweaking to the 'out of box' settings. I suspect its the DVI-HDMI adapter I have or the 6100 doesnt adapt well as I go from an upconverting DVD player, HDMI to HDI in on my VS and its sweet!!

Unless I got a dud, I can't imagine being satisfied with the PQ of the 3752, particularly on SD. The sharpness setting, even set at zero on my set, was just way too high.

I found the Daytek LM37 to be much better - had to pay $30 for shipping, but if I didn't like it, I could always bring it back for full refund (including the $30 shipping).

I think LM37 is a good, quality TV for the $1000, dont get me wrong, but, the tweakability of the VS N3752w allows more versatilty compared to the DT LM37. You can get into the service menu by pressing MENU then 9-9-1 on the remote and you can drastically alter the PQ to your tastes, and, even make SD look good!
I have looked into the DT and basically, you get minimal user options, and basically get what ya get, it is what it is.
I love my VS even more as days go by. HD is wonderful, SD is good and my upconverting DVD player thru HDMI is superb. It is the best bang for your buck right now.

Hab_Boy,

Which Costco location did you see them both at???? I have never seen the 37" Daytek at a store, only the Viewsonic model. I was under the impression that the Daytek 37" was an on-line item only??

Please list this info, so I can see it myself....I see you are in Rmd, but I have not seen the Daytek in that store.

I went to the brand new Costco in downtown Vancouver, they had them both on display, side by side.

Damn!!!! I had no idea the service menu was accessible on the VS; that changes everything! If it is indeed as tweakable as you say, that makes it far more attractive in my eyes; now I gotta see if I can find one around here - last time i looked, there were no 37"VS on the shelves.

Ya, like I said, the Daytek is a good TV for the price, but, the VS is the winner, by a nose, in my books...
Just put mine on the wall...pls note, Katie Daryl is HAWT!

Default Viewsonic

Just bought the Viewsonic and $1000 is a steal. Great picture after a bit of tweaking through component (Wii) and VGA (PVR). Speakers are a bit loud on lower settings but for $1000 this is not a major issue. I'll wait for 1080p LCD TVs to come down in price and then go bigger but for now this is wonderful TV.

i also own the VS 3752

have try this DAYTEK at costco with my laptop, and it was also good,
its more about the price ! but now the are both the same !
try this test to see the contrast result: (daytek is 1600:1 wich should be better...)
http://ggtronic.dyndns.org/~ggtronic...Step81080p.jpg
i can see all the contrast in this pic, exept the last right transition...

my setup:
http://ggtronic.dyndns.org/~ggtronic/HD%20gg.wmv

hard to find wich is the best without really having both
in front of you to play with...

like many mention here before, after tweaking, color+contrast+
SD+HD are excellent with this viewsonic

My setup is mostly a multimedia PC , and i have these for testing:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...tshowcase.aspx

and these video are awesome with this TV !

about HDMI : its a major technical failure, was not able to find a single model that work
good with my laptop ! forget this connection and try component or DB15 !

I believe your video card has to be HDCP compliant to work with HDMI, could be wrong tho. My comp looks sweet through the DB15 as it is!!!
