Has anyone had success connecting the Wii to a 2Wire Router using a wireless connection? The Wii is detecting the router and I have manually configured it but when I try to connect it fails.
Any suggestions? |

Well, after a week of trying various things I finally got the Wii to talk to my router. I switched from b to b/g mode. I changed my channel to 1. I reduced my transmission rate to the minimum. I checked my MAC filtering. I tried a static IP address. Nothing worked. Then I changed my security setting from WEP - Shared to WPA and BINGO!! Everything seems to be working fine now. Hope this helps someone else in the future.

While this advice obviously does not help at this point whenever I have a wireless problem the first thing I do is connect without security and go from there.

I had difficulty getting my Wii connected as well. I tried many of the same things as you channel, b/g mode etc but in the end the one thing that fixed it was the length of my WPA PSK passcode. It was 63 characters long. I shortened it to 8 and it worked. I put all the other router settings back.
Recently though I notice the "glowing slot" for many hours at a time. I have not looked into it but I turned off the connection as a precaution.

The password should be set by default to WEP-open & you'll find it on the side of the unit in square brackets (10 digit number), right next to some bar-codes |

lol, no don't open anything!
I mean "WEP-Open" as the encryption type. Just look on the side of the 2wire. |
