Does anyone know anything about Rocketfish cables? I see that FS carries them and they seem to be a Best Buy brand so I'm expecting they may not be great quality.
I need a short set of component cables so maybe it doesn't matter a lot. Thanks. Sorry, just found another thread with this topic. Stupid, stupid me should have searched first....

Rocketfish is FS's own brand name, and are of great quality. I use them, and am totally convinced that they are as good as, if not better, than most on the market. And they are just a fraction of the cost of Monster.

I picked up a Rocket Fish digital coaxial cable today at BB. It seems pretty good in quality. Nice braiding, good conector (not too tight). The sound from my CD player using the cable sounded decent. I am happy. For $20 I dont feel ripped off.
According to the package they are made by BB and distrubuted by BB. Web site: rocketfishproducts dot com for those who care in such things. |

Rocketfish is Best Buy house brand. Still way overpriced.
Get some $15 to $20 cables and they will be more than good enough. Digital either works or it does not. If it works then $10 cables will look exactly the same as $100 cables. |

I agree with the consensus here.
RocketFish are as good or better than Monster. That's still a long way from AR (Acoustic Research), but still a good build. The connectors are are well insulated and make good contact, and the cabes seem quite well shielded. I've had no issues with them. They are a BestBuy house brand, and since BB and FutureShop share a parent company, they are also available from FS. They are also still overpriced, but for anyone in the GTA area, there are some great deals on the cables on eBay, with local pick-up I play less than $10 per cable. And yes, a $10 digital cable will work the same as a $100 cable with a few notes. 1.) A well buit cable can tend to be more reliable over longer distances that push the limits of a given cable spec. 2.) Better connectors mean less chance of an accidental disconnect 3.) Better cable quality means it's less likely to wear and fray over time. All that said, I don't tend to spend over $10-15 on cables anymore. |

Yeah... digital either works or it doesn't for the most part ZoZo.
But component cables aren't digital. |
