Has anyone tried these cables? Futureshop and Best Buy carries them. They look similar to Monster cables and slightly cheaper. How good are they?

But how is the construction, or video quality? The component cables have a nice braided jacket, something you see in high end Monster series - for $39.99.

Good cables ... certainly as good as or better than Monster, but still overpriced. If you are looking for an HDMI, TOSLink, or Digital Coax ... basically any brand will do. If you are carrying an analogue signal, then you need good quality cables. Rocketfish seem good but overpriced ... Monster are extremely overpriced.

$10 for a component cable is quite good. But since he doesn't know much about cables or electronics, he's unsure of the quality. |

They are definitely good quality for that kind of price. They are better cables than Monster and you would have to pay significantly more to do better generally.

I'm sure you could order from monoprice.com and come out ahead in price, with as good or better quality.

Better than $10 for a component video cable? I think he's got a line on a pretty good deal.

Yeah, for a component video cable that is a good deal. Some of the other things such as Toslink cables and so forth might be more competitively priced at monoprice.

I can tell you from first hand experience that the rocketfish cables are pretty cheaply made. I've used their component cables and was not impressed as the ends popped off a couple of times. Also, they are just as ridiculously tight on your AV components as the monster cables with their "turbine connectors" Almost wrecked more than one set of inputs on my TV.
Other than those negative things they are well priced and certainly better than spending 3x the amount on monster |
