Yeah, they have the 60" for $2899.00 and in Canada the MSRP is $4499 while 57 says he saw on for $5499.00....just like this past years SXRD.

Ship it to Canada and increase the price by $1000 or $1500 is the game and it sucks.

The one I saw may have been the older model - it had the speakers on the sides. I have not been keeping up on these models, just browsing through and noticed it at the back of the store.

Yes, that is last years. The new model has bottom mounted speakers and is priced much better, but still $1500 more than in the USA. Might be a clearance on the old models, but not holding my breath.

Wait for the new SXRD XBR models coming this fall ( with DRC 2.5 which improves the HD image also) and 3 HDMI inputs...I think they also come with a stronger light source. They have the speakers on the side like current models (which I like more).

My main reason for posting earlier was the comment about the poor convergence... Something to perhaps be aware of.

Default Hdmi 1.3

Can someone confirm if the A2000s support HDMI 1.3 or not ?

Also, should we care about it ?

Is it worth waiting one full year again ?

Default HDMI 1.3 specs

Here are some specifications. You can get the full specs here :

http://www.hdmi.com/resourcecenter/hdmi_1_3_faq.asp

If I understand well, we need HDMI 1.3 to use the full power of HD-DVD and Blu-Ray.

Higher speed: Although all previous versions of HDMI have had more than enough bandwidth to support all current HDTV formats, HDMI 1.3 increases its single-link bandwidth to 340 MHz (10.2 Gbps) to support the demands of future HD display devices, such as higher resolutions, Deep Color and high frame rates. In addition, built into the HDMI 1.3 specification is the technical foundation that will let future versions of HDMI reach significantly higher speeds.

Deep Color: HDMI 1.3 supports 30-bit, 36-bit and 48-bit (RGB or YCbCr) color depths, up from the 24-bit depths in previous versions of the HDMI specification, for stunning rendering of over one billion colors in unprecedented detail.

New HD lossless audio formats: In addition to HDMI’s current ability to support high-bandwidth uncompressed digital audio and all currently-available compressed formats (such as Dolby® Digital and DTS®), HDMI 1.3 adds additional support for new lossless compressed digital audio formats Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™.

It scares me that we haven't heard a thing about the XBR models. I want the 60" or 70".

No you do not need HDMI 1.3 for HD-DVD or Blueray

1.3 is for more bandwidth and for newer televisions which don't exist yet to use more "bits"

Default A2000 models

Went to my local Sony dealer, he will be getting the 50' 2nd week of Aug. Quoted me a price which blew me away. Looks like they will be shipping all sizes over the next few weeks. PM me for the quote I received.

Default Yes, I just saw a new A2000

First off, I have had 2 cordless phones, 1 amp, 1 dvd player and a 24" WEGA that all died on me early, or had poor performance issues. This is why I didnt get last years SXRD along with the price and side speakers.

I just saw a new 60" A2000 on display at the Sony Store in Southcentre Mall here in Calgary and it was playing a Sony supplied DVD of some Rugby game on an upconverting DVD player.

It looked every bit as good as last years model. Clear, vibrant, lifelike picture and the bottom mount speakers had me thinking it was a 55" at first, it looks so compact. The list price is $4499.00 and I tested the waters and there is room to move on the pricing.

I got a price from A&B sound in the Northeast here and they will have the A2000 in soon and the rep hinted around $4k would be the price.

I like the black cabinet of the JVC better, but the thick bezel is all black and the picture, price, 1080 via hdmi is all appealing. I may just eat some crow and have a 1080P LCOS set for NFL season opener.
