Anyone considering the 70"er?.....about how much will it street at do you think? What would be a short list of vendors In Edmonton that you'd consider for sxrd xbr? I bought my 65xbr10w @ Visions about 6 years ago.....i basically researched it & went in with the model number and asked for their bottom line price, so i never have had to suffer through any ill-informed rhetoric from them. They were pretty agressive with the discount.......& they sent me a refund/credit check for the extended warranty about $500.00, since i had no warranty work. I've also been to that Sony STore @ S.Edmonton Common & they have seemed reasonably informed at times....am i right in assuming Sony Store won't compete w/ 3rd party box-store discount wise? Haven't bought a big ticket item direct from SOny in some time. Appreciate any thoughts advice etc re local market.

Thx.

I spoke to Steve, my guy at A&B Sound in downtown Edmonton and he said that he has 2 on order, and they may arrive in their store tomorrow! I'll let you know if I get a call to check it out tomorrow.

Default SXRD 60" XBR2

I just went to the downtown A&B Sound in Edmonton and checked this TV out. I'm very impressed with it; the menus look really, really nice (I know, funny thing to start out talking about), the picture was good (just component from a DVD player), and it has tons of options for calibrating the set.

Mine will be here next week - just waiting on a stand to come in.

Default SXRD XBR 2 sighting

I was at Vaughan Mills yesterday (huge mall in the GTA) and the Sony Store had the new 70" on display. The 60" will appear in their showcase window sometime this coming week according to the assistant Store Manager. I was able to only watch a Discovery HD program for about 5 minutes...overall the PQ looked very impressive, but I'd like to see more programming/for much longer to have any opinion beyond that. The quoted retail prices were $7500 for the 70" and $5,000 for the 60". Looking forward to seeing more in the weeks ahead.

I saw the 60" at A&B Sound in downtown Edmonton on Friday (I made them unbox it right when it came in). Mine should be here on Tuesday or Wednesday.

It's here, it's here!!!

I don't have it setup yet (stand hasn't arrived yet), but the TV is in my living room. Just in time for the Oilers game in HD this Sat (now I have to come up with an excuse not to go to the party my girlfriend wants to go to).

Default Sony 70" XBR2

Wondering what the best deal price we can get for the big guy
So far I've seen it at the Sony Store in Surrey and the Langley A&B said its on the way (they had the 60 in the back but no 70 yet).

In the states the MSRP is rumoured to have dropped from 7000 US to 5999.
So i'm hoping that shortly we'll see that same drop here from $7500 to $6500.

I'm itching to buy this guy but need to get a good deal.
Any other sightings of this 70 inch monster !!

Any one else looking for this set? Lets share location and pricing info and help other board members out! Posts at AVSFORUM have people reporting that they have been able to get the set as low as $5300 US !!!

Nanaimo A&B has the 70". I was just talking to the salesman yesterday about it. I didn't ask the price though because I could never afford it.

Default xbr2 60 and 70 in calgary, too

yes, my sony rep called me yesterday (tuesday) to tell me that my 60" xbr was in the store. went by last night as the staff was setting up the display unit, prominently featured in the front window of the store. the 70" is also set up, towards the back of the store. so, yes, the 60" and 70" have finally arrived in calgary.

the news? according to the rep, the units are backordered for close to a month, with some suggestion that backorders may continue through christmas. of course, now we change our focus to "when will the playstation 3 units be arriving?"

best wishes, all.

I saw one at a Sony store in Edmonton. I have a 60" sitting on my floor (my stand hasn't arrived yet!!). I don't have the space for a 70", and I'm sure I'll be happy with the 60" once I get it set up.
