I like IPA's with lots of hops.My two regulars are Phillips IPA [6.5% from Victoria], and HopHead from Tree Brewing in Kelowna. I'm not sure if Phillips or Tree Brewing are available outside of BC, bt if they are and you like IPA's, give them a try. Howe Sound Brewing Devils Elbow IPA in a 1L poptop from Whistler is good too.

eyesocket, if you are near Richmond, BC go to the brew pub across from the SilverCity Riverport Cinemas and order their Extra Special Bitter - man oh man that's hoppy! EDIT- I just looked it up and that brew pub is the Big River Brewing Company and their list of on tap beer has this: Quote:

Just following up on Post #80 and a new IPA in the Vancouver area that I came across last week:
Surrey BC's own Central City Brewing Co. (a brew pub) puts out a wonderful brand called "Red Racer India Pale Ale" that is quite hoppy as you might expect, and has a very high 6.5% alc/vol. level. The bitterness on first sip is not unlike grapefruit, and the flavour is not too sharp to overload the tanginess. On the label is the note that Red Racer won the title of "Best Beer in BC! 2008-2009" and I can understand why. Another good BC IPA is Nelson Brewing's award-winning Paddywhack, which is quite different from Red Racer but nonetheless hoppy and refreshing. |

Microbrewery in Vankleek Hill makes 2 brands, Lug Tread and Festivale. Both tasty and natural organic ales. Available at the brewery in 1.89 litre jugs and the LCBO in eastern Ontario.

Does anyone care for the "lite" beers and if so what do you recommend? Something with a body hopefully. The only one I have had is Coors Light and it is quite plain and watery. Amstel Light is supposed to be good. If I can find a single I may try it.

Look for two Ontario products, F&M Stonehammer Light and Robert Simpson Anti-Gravity.

Just finished a case of Presidents Choice Honey Red brewed by a small brewery in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. An excellant brew at a reasonable price.

Without question...my favorite...American Bud-Lite...I just wish we could buy it in Canada.
It never ceases to amaze me when walking into a Liquor store...I can purchase beer from all over the world...Germany, Holland, Ireland, Mexico etc...but the beer I want from our nieghbors to the south...nope...all we get is American Sim-Subbed beer...blah!

Jake, I find Stella Artois Light to be acceptable. It retains the regular version's classic Northern European pilsner-style flavour for the most part. I would choose it if the options were light beer only.
