I just got a letter from Cogeco announcing a price increase of $2 / month, to help pay for their service improvements. I know that, here in Peterborough, we started to get pre-school and child-aged "on demand" stations but that doesn't help us as we have no grandchildren just yet.
Also, it ticks me off that in Peterborough we pay the same fee as others around the province but we don't get any western time-shift HD channels or Discovery HD which I would really enjoy. These simply aren't available in this area. Anyone else getting the price increase letter? |

I'm sure an increase was inevitable, but I'm disappointed they're raising the price before solving all the guide bugs.

Ditto. Get you house in order before passing through an increase.
Not to mention they have been jumping in hog wild on VOIP and bundling discounts and so is this just really a claw-back in disguise?

I got a price increase letter, but it had to do with the Entertainment magazine that they have been sending. I just called and said cancel it so I'm not expecting any increase.

It really bothers me that they are going to increase for my service, while offering all of those great discounts to new customers.
I have been an early adopter of all their products - digital cable, PVR, high speed internet, telephone service. Because I joined early, I didn't get any of the new customer discounts they are now offering, and when I asked if I could get them retroactively, I was told no, they are just for new clients. Once again, loyal customers pay the price, while new guys get all the discounts. |

Does anyone have a scan of the letter? I haven't received a notification yet.

I believe that the $1 Mag was included in the 18.99 (old) price for TMN, but the (new) price without the Mag is 17.99.

57 is correct...
I received a letter by snail mail outlining that the "Feature" magazine was being improved, the name changed to "Movie Entertainment" and the subscription was to increase by $2. (I had thought that the mag was simply free when you subscribed to the Movie Network.) I called the conveniently supplied number (1-866-918-9099) and the pleasant CSR not only cancelled my subscription, but informed me that my total bill would now decrease by $1, the amount I have being paying all along for the magazine. For some strange reason, this gave me inordinate pleasure.... noboy |

Well, I guess it was concluded in this thread that there wasn't going to be a price increase. But I did get a letter today to say that our prices will increase effective August 16, 2006.
For me, it would be a $4/month increase. $1/month for my Digital Select 1 ($44.99 to $45.99), and $3 for Standard High Speed Internet with digital cable ($39.95 to $42.95). It also says Standard High Speed will go from 7Mbps to 10Mbps in the next couple of months. My bill is already $125/month, so I'm going to switch to Lite Speed Internet. |

If anyone (like me) didn't get the letter about the new increase, I had to email Cogeco and just got it. It's a 1.2MB PDF. http://home.cogeco.ca/~celester/ratesup.pdf
