Alright here goes, I currently have a JVC XV-s300 that I bought from Futureshop 3 months ago, It worked fine with my old 32 inch JVC TV, but just doesn't cut it with my new Hitachi. On top of that the component outputs on the DVD don't work and I must use S-video to watch DVDs. I have noticed that with this DVD player red, orange and flesh tones look terribly pixelized. Could this by the 10bit 27 Video DAC and non-progressive scan.
Any way my question is, I will be trading the JVC DVD in at futureshop, (they will not give a refund, but will allow a trade) as I have had enough with the JVC (it is not meeting my needs right now). My local future shop has limited selection, but they do have the Sony DVP-NS715P with the 12bit 108 Video DAC and progressive scan. I have done research, and from what Futureshop offers, I beleive this is my best bet. Do you think the Sony would be a good choice, My main concern is the pixelization of skin tones, it is unbearable, and takes my attention away from the whole movie. I hope the Sony can minimize this. Any answers are appreciated. |

I use the Sony DVP-NS715P with my Hitachi 43FWX20B and found that the PQ is quite good and a lot better than the Denon DVD-900 I tried. Try it, if you don't like take back and try a different one.

Panasonic actually has a very good progressive scan model that is priced quite a bit lower than the Sony, while maintaining the same feature set, and it will play virtually any format disc you would want to play on it. Starts in with the 62 series, or upgrade to the 82. Only problem with Panasonic is that they can be tough to find this time of year. Good luck.

Well, I had the choice, between the Sony and the RP82, and I went with the RP82 after a discussion with the Salesman, I am very pleased with it, a huge difference over the JVC, I wasn't able to compare the RP82 to the Sony on the UWX, however at this point I don't know if the Sony would be any better. Thanks for the input.

Just bought the panny 62 to go with the 51swx. Set it up right out of the box. No special set and then sat down and watched Spiderman. Incredible picture, with no tweaking.Colours were bright and brilliant. Couldn't tear the kids away for bed. Just love it.
Any special setups anyone has used? Thanks |

I just bought a Panasonic XP30 to go with my [as yet unpurchased] Hitachi 65SXW. Was this a good choice?
Thanks |

I went with the Sony HS10 front projection. Questions remains, though, if anyone knows the answer....

The XP30 looks, from the specs anyway, very similar to the RP82 in a really nice slim format. Top rated, along with RP82 and Denon DVD-1600 (Auto) in benchmarks at http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/cgi-b...h&articles=all.
Good choice.
