Okay so I'm reading the following today... (I've edited for brevity)
Quote:
IMHO, why would these people watch these movies on network television? I mean 99% of homes have a VCR. Why endure 18 minutes of commercials each hour? so I ask "Are these people lazy or dumb or ?" |

Your missing the Cheap/thrifty choice. I know someone that feels they are paying enough for cable, why would you go spend more money to rent or buy it.
I personally like to see the whole movie through without interuption or missing pieces to make it fit into a time slot. Don |

I"ve never been able to watch more than 15 minutes of The Sound Of Music at a sitting, so I've never actually seen the whole thing (or even most of it). Maybe those people needed the commercials to watch the movie and be able to inject insulin????? As for the other films I have no opinion as to why they'd watch them on network TV (A Wonderful Life may be a family tradition but Die Hard - I don't think so).

Obviously, I was being tongue in cheek when I created the poll but to me this is evidence that it will be a long time before PVR's take over!

Well, I don't consider my parents to be either lazy or dumb. They've never set foot in a video store and have never bought anything more than kids videos on VHS to entertain their grandchilden.
I'm willing to bet that they represent a greater portion of the population too. |

Yep, for some reason, only a very small percentage of the population do time-shifting. Confuses the hell out of me, since it's the equivalent of wasting about half of the time you spend in front of a TV (commercials, stuff you can zip past, etc).
My time is too valuable to veg in front of a commercial TV programme. Haven't done so for more than 25 years... I guess my vote would go to "lazy".
