yes. Like any set, you should have your set calibrated and beware of games that might have a constant image that could cause burn in on your screen.
Check out the Home THeater, HD forum and HT FAQ forums for more discussion about burn in. |

Make sure that your contrast is set below 50%(25%-30% is ideal). Keeping this down will help prevent burn in. Since most people dont play the same game for more than a month or so, I dont think burn in from the game's static images(i.e.- Health bars, points, displays, etc.) will be of much concern. Just dont pause the game for long periods of time while the tv is on. Have fun!

Some games will force you to use Standard 4:3, so my question is "Is it ok to play the game with BLACK SIDE PANELS and not the default grey ones? I heard that the black burns the screen.
On the other hand I also heard that the thin black lines along the grey side panel can potentially burn the screen too. Sorry for being paranoid

If I was you, I wouldnt use the black bars as they WILL cause burn-in eventually. As for the grey bars, as long as you keep the contrast down, you should be ok. I know that most games make you play in 4:3 mode, but if it doesnt bother you that much, use one of the stretch modes on your tv(4:3 Expanded, or 16:9 Standard). The picture will be a little squashed, but if you can handle that, at least you wont have to worry about burn in. Also, I would consider getting an XBOX. There are a few games out right now(Tony Hawk4, NBA2k3,etc) that can be played in true HD resolutions in 16:9 format. There are supposed to be alot of new games that support HD on the XBox this year. Something to think about....
