It will be 8 weeks tomorrow. I phoned up today to get a status. I'm being told that Sony will have them on September 16th.

I dropped by the Sory store where I bought mine and was told just about the same thing. Mid to late September.

James, I got a call on Monday from the Sony Store and my bulb has arrived. So that would make it about 6 weeks after I ordered it.
Oh well, at least I'll have it in when I use up my original bulb. |

Ordered mine on July 8th (10 weeks or so). Just phoned the parts department. Still on back order.

I plan on leaving mine in the box until I need it.
I have heard these new bulbs are better than the originals, but my HS-10 is still doing just fine, and I'm just nearing half way in the life of the bulb. So it stays in the box. |

Just replaced it. Old bulb had 3100 hours and still looked good. Can tell a big difference in brightness but it's only been on for 10 minutes.

James, what did you do about the air filter? I'm already on my back up and have about 800 hrs on it. The first one lasted about 1000 hrs.
I found a place in Mississauga that can get them, but they want $107 each. If the filter is necessary, I'll order it from the states. I've already found a place that's asking about $29 US. Thanks |

Every 6 weeks i took it out and washed it and let it dry. I then put in the 2nd one (it came with 2) and i simply kept on rotating them.
I should have ordered some when i got the bulb. Not sure what Sony's price is. |

Am I correct in assuming that you are projecting on a painted wall rather than a screen? Or are you referring to the color of the surrounding walls in your Home Theatre room? If you are projecting on a painted wall, what, if any, are the disadvantages? What would be the advantages... other than the obvious overall savings in $'s?

Tha's the problem, it seems you can't buy it from Sony. It's not on their website, and the Sony Store in Brampton is the one who gave me the number for the supply store in Mississauga.
This situation is absolutely unacceptable to me. At this point I seriously doubt I'll ever buy Sony again. Zircon, I did project my picture on a painted wall for a short time, but I was not happy with the picture and so bought a Draper 106" screen. |
