Can someone let me know if a used DISHnet receiver (HDTV) would work on the Bell system? They are selling for low prices on sites like eBay. I am not interested in spending $300+ tax for a 6100 or $600 ++ on a 9200. I'd appreciate some help.

Visit a Bell World Store.
Bell 6100 Refurbished is $199 & a refurb 9200 is $299. They also had an offering recently, not sure its still valid of a 6100 & 300 for $125. But to answer you question, no, Bell would not activate the Dish receiver, unless you were luck enough to get a new CSR. You also need to be aware that the software on that receiver would have to be changed over to Bell too, not a job for a layman. Nimiq 1 |

Some people were able to get bell csr's to add a Dish receiver to bell inventory in the pre nagra 2 days. But the owner still had to remove dish's software and restream at 91 to download bell's software before calling, as a receiver with dish software would not download bell SW, with invoved using a jtag and the jkeys program. Only receiver's with a jtag port were able to be switched (2700 3100 5x00 6000). The 6100 and 9200 as far as I know are not jtag-able, so a owner would have no way of earsing the dish network firmware anyway.
I doubt anyone would be able to have a CSR add a dish receiver anymore. As this is not allowed! |

Can you tell me whether the refurb offer was in the GTA? I travel all over Toronto / Mississauga and would buy a used system no problem. (Or am I wasting my $$ on that too if they move to the new MPEG format?) |

I just sold off two of my never activated 3100s. Been sitting around for almost two years and I actually bought them for $79 for the pair (3150 box...I needed the dish and one LNB) almost two years ago.
The guy had no problem activating them (well they were never activated before!!!) and now I have a couple hundred to spend on another new HD box. I would be very interested in the 9200 refurbs at $299. Anyone have a number that I can call as there are no Bell stores here!!!! |

Hello all.I have to leave my bell sub.Because of rising costs, and my wife is currenly out of work.Cutbacks have to be made.Over $70/month is getting too much.I don't watch much tv anymore anyway.I have my tv ant and hd ota box for entertainment.I am wondering if anyone knows if I can sell and transfer ownership over to someone else. Also , are there any fees to pay to discontinue service.I have 2- 4700 model receivers.Does bell have a return policy to give me something for them if I can't sell privately?

Yes you can sell them and transfer ownership to a new subscriber, just call bell to have the receivers disactivated before you give them to the buyer and tell expressvu the name of the buyer, so bell can put it on file so that the buyer can activate them when they add them to their account. There are no fee's to d/c your service as long as your not under a contract. Bell has no return policy. You should have no problem selling privately or on ebay. You can also list them here on the Buy and Sell thread here at Digital Home!

If you cancel we have a 30 days policy...we will only deactivate the account in 30 days.
There is a 35$ transfer rate for the client who takes the receiver Bell could also buy you receiver back, but many agents are unaware of that programm. Here is how much they will give you: 2700->25$ 3100->40$ 3200->50$ 4700->25$ 5100->70$ 5200->120$ 5800->70$ 5900->70$ 6000->70$ 6100->100$ Other models are not accepted |

I believe that $35 fee only applies if the used IRD is activated on a new account as the sole IRD.
