thanks to both Jaygeetee and stampeder for your input. I did some more reading today and figured that if I could find it, the CM4040 would be a good option for me, but so far I haven't found a way to purchase it locally (no offense to saveandreplay.com, I just hate paying for shipping when I live in an urban center! ). I will take the advice and pick up the Terk TV4 and give it a whirl tonight. If all I get is a nice HD signal for CBC, I'll be happy!

thanks again...

Does anyone on the North Shore receive Joy TV: CHNU-DT 47.1?
If so, what antenna/setup are you using? I never was able to receive it, even before the transition to digital.

Default 10.1 & 42.1...

signal strength 65-76% no picture or sound again this morning. I guess they are having "issues"!!! Anyone in Vancouver know what the issue may be?

Right now at 1.26 pm - all OK. 2 days ago there was blackout on both 10 and 42, which I attribute to maintenance works. Nice weather outside, nobody's watching TV. The same reason why there are no good shows in daytime or on Sundays.

I have a direct line of sight to Mt. Seymour and I am receiving no signal whatsoever on 10.1 and 42.1. I usually receive a strong signal (>90%). I assume that the maintenance is still occurring. I'm surprised that the CRTC doesn't require stations to broadcast outages and maintenance announcements similar to how the FCC requires American stations to do.

Default Hi GL...

I noticed the same thing earlier today...10.1 & 42.1 ... signal, but no picture - no sound.

That's odd. I don't receive a signal at all on 10.1, 42.1 or on their RF counterparts. I inquired through the CityTV website. I'll let you know if I get a response.

Yes, I do receive Joy. I have a clear line of sight view to the East and pointed my antenna in that direction. I use a CM 4228 + amp. Signal is strong, clear and consistent.

Bpag, do you ever have any overload issues with the preamp and your close proximity to the Mt. Seymour transmitters? While CBUT was still on analogue VHF 2, at times it seemed too strong, and CHAN-TV VHF 8 had some ghosting, no matter how I rotated the antenna. I think, for me, I don't have a good "Line of Sight" for CHNU-DT 47 (Joy TV).

Anyone notice a decrease in signal strength. Here they're down 10-25 points with channel loss or intermittent reception.

Which channel are you referring to?

KCPQ RF 22 on Capitol Hill down south got turned ON in the last week or so....

... so it blocks/interferes with my reception to CHAN 22.. now I can't get it anymore! Had an M8 bay-antenna... guess I need to get a Yagi 91XG to be more directional to block the back signal from the south.

Darn KCPQ, they couldnt use a non-conflicting channel RF?

D'oh!

8.1,10.1,17.1...basically the Vancouver stations from Mt. Seymour. Either atmospheric or reduced signal strength coming from the mountain.
