So I think the later part of '05 was great for Shaw HD and I want to compliment them on this. That being said we have lived in the rear of the HD bandwagon for many months prior to today and I hope Shaw has decided to be a leader and not a dinosaur when it comes to the HD world. So this brings me to my question....
What is next for Shaw HD in '06? Rumors, wants, wishes, thoughts...bring it all. I for one am pretty happy at the moment, but I am not totally sure of what more Shaw can/will do for us HD subsribers. I would like to hear what some of the more informed/intune contibutors have to say on this topic, and get their take on the direction. Thanks and Happy New Year to all!!! |

Discovery HD.
Beyond that I just want the broadcasters to get their act together to produce more HD content or at least secure rights to sufficient amount of HD content to justify their existence. |

Has there been any word at all from Shaw about Discovery HD? I certainly would like to see it carried. I also would like to see the CRTC get off their butts and approve HDNET. Not that Shaw would also get off their butts and carry it. So... my wishes....drop CTV (who needs it?) and add Discovery. Add HDNET as soon as it becomes available. And...DON'T start charging extra for HD.

I'd like to see Discovery and HDNet and some of the HD superstations like WGN, etc. Maybe the WB and UPN HD channels as well.

No word from Shaw about Discovery. But, judging from what transpired between Videotron and BGM with respect to Discovery, I suspect that the fees that BGM wants to charge for Discovery are pretty high. As yet, Shaw has not adopted a service fee for HD, although a lot of us suspected they would for TSN. They have obviously decided to eat BGM's fees for TSN-HD without passing them on to us ... not sure that they will make the same decision for Discovery.
