Default Site for reporting email scams / fraud?

I have been getting emails asking me for my personal banking info so millions $$ can be giving to me from some helpless person in Africa (not on my life would I)
They have not been picked up by my spam filter and I would like to make sure some poor person doesn't fall for this junk.
Is there a place I can report this? Or the best way to pursue this?
The only sites I have found is if I am a victim.
Thanks for any tips.

There's not much that can be done if the email originates from outside of Canada or the US, as most of these types of emails do. It's buyer beware, I'm afraid. The RCMP has an information site here: http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/scams/spam_e.htm. The FBI has a reporting system, but again, if it originates from outside of the US, there's not much they can do (http://www.fbi.gov/cyberinvest/escams.htm).

Actually I recommend reporting to the Anti-Phishing Working Group

From their Reporting Phishing Page

Quote:
Report Phishing

** The Anti-Phishing Working Group is a volunteer organization. Due to the significant increase in phishing volumes and reports, there may be some delay in processing your phishing reports and membership requests. **

We are building a repository of phishing scam emails and websites to help people identify and avoid being scammed in the future. If you have received a phishing email and would like to submit it to Anti-Phishing Working Group, please send it to reportphishing@antiphishing.org. We will review the message and any websites to which it links, and post it to the Phishing Archive on this site.

Instructions for Submitting Phishing EmailAssuming you use Outlook or Netscape:

1. Create a new mail to reportphishing@antiphishing.org.
2. Drag and drop the phishing email from your inbox onto this new email message
* In Netscape drop it on the 'attachment' area
3. Do not use "forward" if you can help it, as this approach loses information and requires more manual processing. The exception is when you use the Web interface to outlook: in that case forward is the only solution.

One of the newest Internet sports is baiting these 419 scammers into wasting their own time and resources. Check out the links at the bottom of this Wikipedia entry:

I love scambaiting. My favorite is when I get a phishing e-mail for eBay or PayPal. I always log-on to their website and supply false information to waste their time and efforts.

hehe me too. I usually have a password like "Ihatescammers" or something else.... Sometimes they actually have code to validate your bank number. If I don't know "Southcorp" bank #, it says "Invalid Bank card # - try again!"

Also amusing that they ask for your "PIN" sometimes - and then in grey letters "the one you use at the bank machine".
