Default 530 Price Drops!

The Brick website has the 530 listed at $619.95 this weekend (Dec. 10th). Probably the lowest price in a while.

The Brick link..

Anyone else see any good sale prices before credits and rebates?

Thanks Gary,
I think I'll head to Best Buy and price match!

The 505 is $149.99 at FutureShop. The 530 is $649.99.
I was in BestBuy today and they had a 315/205 bundle for $149.99 as well.

Default short lived

Checked The Brick prior to heading out this morning, back up to $689.99.
Guess I'll keep waiting!

Talking Not so fast!

So I go to the local Brick store and find the sale price still posted! In small print is the end of sale date of Dec. 11/05. So I'm looking for the box, don't see one. I ask the sales guy if they have any in stock, no luck. The sales guy says "I can order you one." I say okay and watch as he places the order at $699.99, then I point out the tag on the shelf that says $619.99. He checks and says someone forgot to remove it, so I get it for the $619.99 and pick it up tomorrow. Thanks Gary!

Well as everyone will soon see, Starchoice themselves are selling the 530 for $599 plus taxes on their website from December 15th to January 6th.

Funny that they waited until the BC code was released before dropping the price...

I don't think its funny, I think its smart.
They've pretty much stopped all marketing of the 530 too, they've been focusing on the 505 @ $149 net.

However it's now on the website for $599. They've even got the demo back up there.

I gotta say, "$499 net" seems like a pretty attractive price for new subscribers too. It's brought it down into that "justifyable" category. Provided it works, I'm all for extra sales.

It was perfect marketing. The last thing they wanted was to increase the number of angry customers using the box. Now that it seems to be considerably more stable, hit the market hard...

But do those boxes come preloaded with the BC code? Likely not. So if someone picks one up right now they will still have a buggy box until Jan 3rd when the rest of us get the upgrade. So someone calls in to complain about their brand new buggy receiver and the CSR tells them "yes, we've fixed all those problems but you can't have the new code until January." Not very smart at all.

$499 plus the installation fee of $99 would be my top price to pay as an existing customer, and I don't mean a discount with PPV credits either. The new download is encouraging, just meet my terms, $499 cash.

I bet they're tagging new activations for immediate upgrade.

On the other hand, with the speed at which Star Choice ships out orders, it wouldn't be unreasonable to order the box today and receive it Jan 3.

I know that Futureshop will price match on-line retailers, so maybe they would price match the $599 price that Starchoice has advertised. That way one could walk out with a unit in hand for $599 + tax.

Default 530 Price

I was in a Futureshop store here in Calgary (NE by sunridge mall for those who may want to check it out) and they had a shelf sticker on he 530 for $599.99, and then you dont have to worry about them adding the shipping for the price match.
