Have some experience with satellites and switches. Did a little reading and have some questions.

Would any uhf antenna work to test reception? Are these the only channels available from Winnipeg.....3,6,7,9,13,35? Which ones broadcast in HD? Any channels from Grand Forks possible? Can one antenna get them all or does it have to be turned? Could the antenna be hooked through a Diseqc switch?

Where could a quality antenna be purchased. Best to mount on the roof?

Thanks for any responses.

Those are the only channels available from Winnipeg. 3 and 6 are in 720p HD (CBC); 7,9, and 13 are in 1080i HD; and 35 is 1080i but only broadcasts SD 4:3 programming. Everything's UHF except 7 & 13. All 6 of these channels are digital, and can be received from within Winnipeg with a quality UHF/VHF indoor antenna (purchased online).

If you wish to go with a rooftop UHF/VHF antenna, you can probably get a better/more reliable signal. I wouldn't rely on getting any US signals except maybe KNRR (if you're lucky), and not on a regular basis. Since channel reception can vary based on location, I'd input your co-ordinates into TVFool.com . Also, check the OTA Antenna Chart for more information regarding which antennas are best suited for what kind of reception.

Anyone having reception issues with Global Regina (CFRE 11.1)? Just kind of quit working for me around 8 PM yesterday. I've been getting sketchy reception as it is, but I get no signal whatsoever. It might be an antenna issue, but CKCK and CBKT are fine.

I am also having problems getting 11.1 Global Regina, all winter got a steady 67% signal with bunny ears mounted in the attic and now nothing. Could it be due to atmospheric conditions (considerably warmer)?

That's a relief. I spent the better part of today checking connections and making sure everything was good at my end. Now that I know I'm not alone with this, I can relax.

I'm in northwest Regina and usually have a signal in the low 80's on Global but nothing right now on 11.1 or 11.2. Other signals are in low 90's.

Global's out for me in Regina too - at least as of two hours ago (and earlier in the day as well). The Moose Jaw FM stations that are on the same tower seem to be weaker, too, so I wonder if there was a large issue with the tower.

Global has said nothing about a problem. Frustrating... Might be time to make a call.

Is there a number to call for Global Regina Customer services? I can only find a web tool and I have never received an answer from that in the past.

Front desk is 775 4000. If the receptionist has any idea, I'd be surprised. They are having issues, but not sure what.

I had Global back yesterday (maybe Monday, I forget ) in Regina, but with signal in the mid-50% range on my Panasonic LCD (I didn't have time to check on my Panasonic plasma). Still, in the 3 or 4 minutes I watched live TV, I didn't notice any dropouts of audio or video.

Normally my signal strength is in the high 80s to low 90s %.

Any comments on using a DB4E in Winnipeg. Looking to purchase one. Will it get all the available channels if mounted on the roof?

It's designed for UHF. Will it pick up channel 7 and 13? Maybe. But it's not designed for it.
