Thanks for the information!
Has anyone seen the 890 available in Canada yet, and if so (not sure if you can post links), can you either post a link or pm me with the location? As mentioned before, I have been toying with the Pronto TSU 7000(or new 7500 - again, limited information and availability as the 7500 is too new) and MX-3000 but if I can spend a few hundred on the 890 with RF, I can see if it will work sufficiently. If not, I guess I can either attempt a refund or move it upstairs and look at the 7000/3000 for the basement (just got to convince the Mrs. |

I would recommend the Marantz RC-5400. At $800, I suspect it is more expensive than the MX-3000 ('cause I don't know how much the MX-3000 is) but the Marantz is a fantastic remote.
http://ca.marantz.com/Products/526.asp I have had the RC-5200 for 3½ years and still love it. Tactile feedback is not the greatest on the LCD screen but it is so convenient and easy to program on the computer. I have panels (on the remote) for my daughter and wife with their preferences and you can keep the controls (and labels) the same even when you change equipment. Possibilities are almost endless. If your budget allows it, do it! |

I have read the FULL review of the Philips ProntoPro NG TSU7000 and Marantz RC9500 at www.remotecentral.com - I believe the 9500 is the step up from the 5400 (Pronto has just released the 7500).
They sound like phenomenal remotes (as does the MX-3000 - FYI, it is more than the Pronto or the Marantz). I am willing to plunk down the coin but I want to make sure I am making the right decision as it is no small chunk of change for a remote. From what I have read the MSRP is going to be for the 890 - I believe the 7500, or MX-3000 would be more bang for the buck. Please pick away at my theory. :-) |

The Harmony is a sensible remote, easy to program and doesn't cost a fortune. It's a great remote and will probably do 95% of everything you'll ever need.
Think of the Pronto/Marantz more as an expensive toy than just a remote (I mean that in a GOOD way). There's so much you can do with thing it'll blow your mind. If you find spending endless hours on the PC tinkering, customzing, tweaking etc fun (and lot's of peope do) then you'll LOVE this thing. You almost need a degree in computer science to make it work but if you're into that kind of thing and can afford the sticker price you can't go wrong. If any of that scares you, go with the Harmony...it's still pretty cool! |

I pick up a harmony 880 today off ebay. Toronto seller for $200.00 pick up no shipping. That is a savings of $145.00.
Even the wife is excited! |

Placed the order for an 880 remote this morning. In life, we go around only once! May as well make the best of it.

Where did you order it from? I hope you got it for a good price and not at Future Shop.

Ordered it from Logitech.ca. Not the best price perhaps, but if I have a problem, I know I will have support.

I assumed that the remote that came with my 315 reciever was not CD Player compatable but wondered about the AUX button. I also noticed in the manual that there is a section listing codes for CD Players. Now, That got me wondering if there is some way to control my Mp3/CD Player with my remote.
Any help will be Appreciated, Thank You. Remote Details: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~MOTOROLA PN: 515301-002 MDL: IRC451 Made in China UA253 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PS: My Mp3/cd Player is a RCA. |

Newfieplayer,
Best thing to do is to go to: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm?CR...2&languageid=1 and make a "Test Drive". By entering the make and model of each device that you have, you will see if your CD player can be configured in the software. I would expect that it can. I received my 880 yesterday and am very pleased with it. I found out that there are two sets of Icons, Set 1. = Activities calling for the combination of components, for example, to watch my DVR the system was configured to power up: - The HDTV with the proper input - The a/v receiver with the proper input - and the STB/DVR (which I keep open at all times because the HDD is shutdown after 2 hours of inactivity. (Similar combinations to watch DVD and VCR or listen to music with the receiver and the digital stations with the STB/DVR) Set 2 = An Icon for each device and full set of commands for each (as if using the original remotes). The original remotes are now stored away.

Have they given us the ability to re-order items for each device? What does everyone use for a dedicated PVR button? I like how the 5100 remote for my bell sat system has dedicated buttons for pvr usage. I find it alot easier for navigating the sat box. Anyone else have an 880 with a bell pvr? If so how do you have it set up for ease of use?
Thanks |

Button A to confirm scheduling and erasing of recordings Button B for preferences Button C to cancel Button LIST to get the listing of recordings The first page to come up, after selecting the PVR Icon on the 880, is a list of the above with side buttons to activate accordingly. In addition, it has a "Back to Live" selection which is redundant because there is a permanent Live button on the keyboard. As for FF, RW, Pause and Play, of course these basic buttons are there. And the remote also carries buttons to access the IPG and program info.
