Absolutely -- the SD looked good for the HNIC game. The generally poorer quality of SD hockey (after seeing it in HD) is waht's holding me back from the Centre Ice package. Some of the feeds, as well as RDS Habs games, look terrible.

I thought the last couple of weeks the first game looked worse than usual ... lots of "dot crawlies" around the bug and and other strong colour areas. And, when the main play-by-play camera was on, the players seemed to have a red fringe on one side and a green fringe on the other. Did anyone else see this? The second game looked much better.

Looking forward to this week's game in HD ...

That's last week's schedule.
The HD game is going ahead.

They've just posted an updated schedule, and the Tampa vs Toronto game is shown as an HD broadcast.

Now if only Starchoice would get CBC-HD up by Saturday....

Thumbs up Counting the minutes...

The game starts at 7PM Eastern, but coverage on CBCHD channel starts a half hour earlier. Will the pre-game be shown in HD as well?? Will they go all the way with DD5.1? We'll all find out together! Finally, the waiting is over...

I expect the pregame will be HD, but I haven't confirmed it.
The audio will be 5.0.

right on! .. Ironically for all the Leaf bashing that happens here, CBC may be the only place we get to see the Leafs in HD this year by the looks of it.

Yeah that's too bad. There are a lot more entertaining teams that they could be showing instead.

On the other hand they aren't as bad as everyone was saying they were going to be, I've been enjoying watching Eric have some success in SD, really looking forward to this Saturday.

Tampa will be fun in HD. One day the Van/Cal 2nd game will be in HD too.

Thanks for keeping us updated Marc, I'm sure your guys will do a great job of both broadcasts.

I've been messing with cbc radio podcasts lately from http://www.cbcradio3.com/ , credit to CBC for not shying away from current trends in technology.

Let's get a Truck out West! I don't care if it's the hand me down HD truck from Toronto and they get a new one.

Ya Gotta use up that Technology Budget you know or you won't get the same amount next year

I'm curious to see what happens in Ottawa when there's a Sens Saturday night game being broadcast regionally (only happens a few times). Will the CBC HD channel be blacked out in Ottawa?

I don't think the game will be blacked out but I doubt we'll ever seen an Ottawa game in HD on CBC until they get a couple more HD Trucks.. Maybe playoffs or when the Sens play the Leafs...

Thanks Marc, you've been great with the info on here. I really hope you guys will do a better job than TSN with your HD broadcasts.
