Default 6100 Freezing

I just got my new 6100 and I am noticing a bit of freezing on the hd channels. I am running component vid for hd and s vid for sd. It only happens on hd and it lasts about a second although tonight on reunion it froze permanently. The sound also seems to cutout for a second now and again. Has this happened to anyone else? Of course Bell could not be consistent in their responses. 1 csr said to unplug recieiver from the wall and dish for about 15 min. Other csr said this is a common problem for the 6100 when plugged into a power bar. I do not have a free outlet as I need one plug for my tv and the other for the bar.

I am having the same problem, except the reciever is completely frozen. I have to wait 3-7 days to get a new reciever from Bell. It actually has become worse, now I have no video or audio, only info text. Thankly I have not cancelled my cable yet. Why would it matter if you had the reciever in a power bar or dedicated 15amp ac?

Unhappy Showcase Freezing

Yup, noticed the same thing last night watching Lexx on Showcase. It was so bad that I moved on to another channel. The screen did not actually freeze but the picture jerked around like a wheel with a missing cog. Also on some chanels (can't say which ones, as this was the wife's observation) the sound seems to drop out for maybe a second or two at a time. I haven't contacted the CSRs yet. I will give it a day or so, log the info and then give them a call.

I'm getting the exact same problem on my 6000.
It has been replace twice by Bell and still the same issue.

Yesterday for exapmle I was watching Close to Home on NBC and the picture froze longer then normal and I could see my AMP going crazy, it was fliping over and over from 5.1 to normal sound without any sound. Only way to fix this is for me to change the channel and come back.

This doesn't happen on SD channels.
I'm starting to think this as nothing to do with th receiver since it does it too to you guys with the 6100.

BTW- This kind of freezing doesn't happen every night but at least 2 times a week. The normal freezing happens every day. Normal freezing for me is picture frezze and if I hit Cancel it come back to normal.

I would like to know how many people are having the same kind of problem

Possibly a new problem as a result of the E556 upgrade?

Hi Falcon,

Does the E556 goes for both 6000 and 6100?
If I remember correctly the Software in my 6000 didn't change since June 2004 and as far CSR is concerned I have the latest one.

This actually happened to me as well watching the baseball game last night. It was frozen and once I changed channels and went back it was fine.

Is this a normal occurrance? If this happens more often should I push to get a new unit from Bell?

Like I said it's my 3rd unit and still having the same problem.
I would really like to track down how many people are having this issue and with which receiver(6000, 6100).

I'm sure lot's of people are having this issue but think it's normal I for one was one of them.

Unhappy

I've got a new 6120 receiver and have had it for about 2 weeks. Twice the picture has frozen, but I still had sound, then when I changed the channel, I lost both picture and sound. My other receivers were still working. To get it working again, I unplugged the receiver for a minute, then plugged it back in, and it was fine again. I called tech support and they logged it. They told me to call if it happens again.

Called BEV CSR after 40 minutes of unsuccessful basic trouble shooting and hold time! the CSR said my component cable is the problem and there is nothing more they can do for me. They said to go buy another component cable and if problem accure again they might replace the receiver again.

To me it don't make any sens since by switching channel normaly the problem fix it self + the problem accure only with HD channel. If the cable was the problem it would freeze on evry channel no?

What do you guys think?

I know what the problem is, same one I have but BEV won't admit the problem. I am willing to bet that the picture freezes on a HD channel that BEV is either starting or ending a Global Simsub. There is a problem with the way the simsub is being started/ended on the channel and BEV will not admit to the issue with me.

Am I correct in that it is happening with a Global simsub??

Would make lot of sens but I also have the problem SRC-HD, WGN-HD, NBC-HD, FOx-HD, ABC-HD and CBS-HD. Starting tonnight I think I will create a log of when it happens and on which channel. Last time it happend is tonnight on ctv-HD about 8:10 watching Invasion.

Also, I get this high pitched sound that cuts in and out. Sometimes I hear it a lot and other times its completely gone. I'm gonna try swapping the audio cables when I get home, could it be the reciever? Anyone else having this issue?

Ok, on Saturday my receiver froze up and I couldn't get any other channels to work. Then when I hit the menu button the menu showed up but the background was black and the menu titles showed up but it was frozen. I had to do a hard reset on the reciever. It was fine after that. Should I be concern? Call in and get a new one? I got this 3 weeks ago.

That is exactly what happened to mine. Once last week and once the week before, and I've had mine for about 3 weeks now too. I called them the second time it happened and the tech said he heard something about that at a meeting and he would log it and I should call back if it happens again. Both times that it happened, I had the timer set. I haven't used the timer since then and it hasn't happened again either.
