I've actually got a spare 10' 1-1/4" Post in the garage that hasn't been used. I'll use that instead of the 'compremised' post.

open6l that would be good as I was going to mention that it looks bent right at the chimmney where you would need to mount the rotor.

If you bought it at home depot why not return the 1 1/4"ID and get get a larger one. Your existing mount will handle the slightly larger pole.

That one 10' new pole 1 1/2"ID would be perfect.

Cut it in two pieces for the length that you need.

even for the piece above the rotor? the brackets that came with the cm4228 barely fit the 1-1/4" diameter...

Opps I forgot the max size pole is 1 1/4"ID for the brackets that holds the antenna.

You can use back your other piece of 1 1/4"ID for the chimmney mount or slightly larger as the rotor takes up to 2"

well damn.... put up a 6' 1-1/2" mast and my signal has dropped 15% across the board... my CITY and CTV which used to get 85% is averaging 72% now

Guess I do need height afterall and a tower might be the only way to go...

yeah - this is really bad... i can't get any US feeds over 40-50%... used to get 80-85% consistently..

I've been using 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 inch EMT (galvanized electical conduit) pipe for antenna and satellite masts. Its much stronger than conventional antenna pipe, and you can get it at RONA or Home Depot. I've had great luck with the sturdiness given that we sometimes get high winds off the ocean and that sea air is a bit more corrosive than inland. Galvanized is hard but if you need to drill it you can centre-punch it and use a good bit. I also try to use either zinc-coated or stainless steel nuts and bolts, but I find the zinc ones to be stronger. Also if you need to attach a ground strap just grind down a couple of thou past the galvanized and you'll hit the plain steel.

open6l I have one more tip for you. A preamp.

We just did a install at alebowgm place and he did not want his antenna too high.

Actually he wanted is as low as we could install it. You should see it its almost sitting on his chimmney and the lower bows of his antenna are blocked by his part of his chimmeny. But this is how he wanted it out of site and low.

We used a 8' pole and mounted it on to his chimmney. Toronto stations all came in all clear and strong but all Buffalo was ar 3 to 4 bars.

Damm condo's.

The view of his antenna point right into a smack of condo's There is no spave between them to get any the signals. there was at least 7 condos side by side completely blocking the Buffalo view.

He also wanted a preamp so I brought a 7775 with me for the install.

After hooking and repeaking his antenna the Buffalo stations all went to a steady 9 bar out of 10.

So a preamp will help with the loss of signals that you have.

except for WNED/PBS which mysteriously has began to become pixlated and drop out repeatdly... guess maybe we will need to repeak, maybe add an extra inch to to the hight or something... signal comes in but then drops out...

Well *someone*, wink wink, in the household wasn't to happy that a CM 4228 was going up... I think over time, I will have to peak it to not make it as noticeable...

alebowgm maybe when that wink wink person has gotten used to seeing the antenna you can consider raising the antenna that all bow are above the top of the chimmney.

That should get you some additional gain.
