Default 9200: Poor Sound Quality at Times

We have noticed at times the 9200's sound makes it very difficult to understand people talking.

Does not happen all the time, but often we have to turn the volume up very loud to just to try to hear voices clearly.

Anyone else?

Nope. Are you sure its the 9200 and not your other home theatre components or connections?

I am having a different sound problem. I get clicks and pops in the sound from tuner 2. It sounds like a scratch on an old vinyl record and repeats about every 4 seconds. I have one TV hooked up with only the HDMI connector and run the 9200 in single mode.

The problem happens when I use PIP. The first channel works fine but when I swap to the second channel I get clicks. It seems to only be on HD channels. The clicks remain when I remove PIP, but the first channel never has trouble when I swap back.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any ideas? I scanned other threads with no luck so I thought I am posting here.

I find I have to double the volume on the set at times, then another channel will be fine. Using in single mode, not sure on the issue...

In case this helps...

I have had a similar problem on certain TV shows where the show producers process the show audio in a manner that is not compatible with some of my TV's audio modes (TruSurround, Simulated). Same thing with some commercials.

The symptom is that the audio sounds hollow and has a 'hole' in the middle. Since the dialog is in the middle, it is horrid.

I'm using just the stereo outputs from the 9200 and my TV is an old Sony KP53V80.

Now I just make sure the TV audio is set to Normal and it always works.

Once I find an affordable 10' optical cable then I can try 5.1 etc. on the HT system.

I've only noticed this garbled sound on the PBS West HD feed (ch 824) when they have Dolby Digital sound. All of the other channels seem fine. Feeding he audio directly to the TV speakers (through the HMDI cable from my 9200) fixes the problem (though not in 5.1)

I'm thinking the problem lies with the TV station and not my receiver.

Default Poor Volume

I have my system in Single Mode and I have one TV hooked up via the HDMI to DVI cable and optical and the other TV through the RF modulator. The TV that is hooked up with the RF modulator has very low volume and have to turn tv up to almost 75% to be semi loud. Does anyone know how to fix this volume issue?

Double-check the fine tuning on your TV set. This is to make sure that the TV tuner is exactly on frequency so that it can find the audio subcarrier. Apparently some channel on Cable can vary a bit one way or the other depending on the 'system' they've chosen.

Try setting the modulator and TV to various channels and OTA versus Cable channel numbering (9200 modulator screen). Perhaps there is leakage from an external source on the frequency you've selected. I'd set it to the OTA channels to make sure.

Finally, try another TV (even the local HD TV, use the RF input).

Default Poor Volume

Jeff, Thank you for your reply.

I have tried various channels on the 9200 RF modulator and tried another TV and cable and it is the same thing. I still have to jack up the volume and that causes a hum. I may try to hook the other tv up through RCA if that will work at the same time as the HDMI to DVI cable to my HDTY.

On RCA, I don't have sound problem, only with HDMI.
