Just got home from the Sears retail store in London - they claim no knowledge of that upcoming sale. He even looked in his computer and said it's on sale now for $2499, with no change in the sale price on it showing up. That's ok - I only just bought the tv 2 days ago, and FS told me the price protection was effective until Jan. 11, so there's lots of time to watch for a good price that can be matched! |

This is odd - if you remember my saga at Future Shop with the home theatre package - how they told me that Sony pulled the $300 instant rebate, but I had a printout showing the $300 instant rebate was effective until the 8th, and what Sony did or didn't do was not my problem, so they gave it to me.
Anyway...now that Home Theatre system is gone from the FS website. I had it bookmarked. I hope there's no problem in getting the $500 in rebates. Glad I have printouts of everything! |

BTW, where is your "teeny tiny village" near "The Big City - London"? I was in UWO graduate school from '96 to '98. |

Anybody send for these rebates? I'm wondering if FS messed up in advertising that you could submit BOTH rebates? Maybe it's supposed to be one or the other. I hope I don't end up in a knock down drag out fight over this. |

Well...after lurking, reading and drooling at AV stores for the last 3 months I finally pulled the trigger. I had ordered the Samsung DLP 42" @ FS last Sunday night for $1620... but after looking at the TV next to the Sony 42" I cancelled my order for the Samsung and went with the Sony 42" KFE. I was always a DLP fan because the blacks looked better, but after watching both TV's with the same feeds and playing with the adjustments the Sony just looked better to me. I was also worried that I might see rainbows although I haven't seen them in the store. Any ways... I now feel confident in my purchase. I know it sounds stupid, but I just feel better purchasing a Sony. I own several other Sony products and I have always been happy with them... I don't have the experance with Samsung, and some of the problems that others have posted got me worried. BTW... I have a 27" Panasonic Goaa that still looks amazing (best purchase ever...it's 6 years old and the picture still blows me away)... but I'm ready for something bigger and for the HD experance. My TV get's delivered Wednesday night...can't wait.
Questions> Does anyone have there A10 hooked up to a Xbox 360? How does it look? I'd like to thank the admins of this site, and everyone who shares what they know with each other. This site has been a great resource for me, and I really enjoy reading about everyone's experances. I will definately post a review of my new Sony once it arrives in this thread. Now to find that X-Box 360..... |

...........QUOTE] I will probably try Samsung microwave but not TV yet (Don't blame me Samsung fans). Same here for the old days 27" CRT TV experience. Mine is Hitachi and just can't get rid off it. It is from '96 and still working in excellent condition. It is now in the bedroom. |

I have I think better of A10 now than just before I bought it. What is surprising to me is PQ of SD channels. They are much much better than I had expected. |

Any suggestions on web sites than can help with calibrating my new 50a10, I know I’m not getting the viewing pleasure that I should be.
After installing it, Monday Night Football looked amazing. Now that I have had a chance to play with it more I’m not completely satisfied with all channels. I hope that adjusting the video settings will help with the analogue although I know that it will never compare to a crt. I’m not giving up yet! Digital looks good and most HD looks great. |

Overall, it's beautiful. And yeah, SD channels look fine to me. HD channels blow everything away in terms of how good they look, but everything else looks just spiffy too. |

My KFE50A10 came today.
Wow. Right out of the box, nothing tweaked, and it was WOW. Even my BUD (C-Band dish) looked great, and I was really concerned about how that would look. Now, could someone please have pity on me and tell me how to quickly change from one input to another without cycling through them? I'm using 3 inputs, one for C-Band, one for Starchoice, and one for a DVD player. Also have a vcr and another dvd player set to the side, that haven't been hooked up yet. But I'm looking through that manual, and my eyes are going crosseyed trying to find how to simply change from one input to another. :-) |

wega gate -> external input -> then scroll up or down to your source. You can edit the source name too from video1,2,3... to whatever you like it. I may wrong on the exactly wording in the screen since I am away from the TV or manual. If you find something new let us know. EDIT: I just tried myself. Looks like the label edit can only allow user to pick from the predefined list? Last edited by ocean9927; 2005-12-09 at 09:34 PM. |

Cool, that works!
I was hoping for something like on my old tv - input 1 was channel 91, and input 2 was channel 92, so all I had to do was enter either 91 or 92 - but it doesn't look like that can be done with this tv. Oh well, using wega gate is better than cycling through them all until I get to where I want! |

I have the Starchoice 505 - hooked it up via component and it looks pretty good.
Put a dvd in my Philips 642 (Finding Nemo) and that looked pretty good too. The philips is connected with the rca cables. |
