Hi Oceans9927, if you have any luck with the DVI-HDMI let me know. My setup includes the KDFE -50A10 and Rogers 3250 HD box, received it on Nov 11, 2005. The family can't belive how we used to be able watch TV on a 27".

With the HD box hooked up via the component cable (RGB) the picture is excellent. But I'm hoping that the DVI-HDMI maybe a little bit better. I've attempted to hook it up via this cable BUT their was RED sparkly noise in the black areas(side bars and in the picture) on HD channels. I tried another cable and it showed the same thing. I will be attempting another HD box, possible tonight.

Of course Rogers does not support the DVi connection so they will not even attempt to address my questions. Please let me know if you have any luck.

Cheers

prelude93,

Would you mind telling me where did you get and how much did you pay for HDMI-DVI cable? Me too move from 27" CRT to 50" big screen.

thewatcher,

I also ordered and received 2 of APC backup UPS from Staples, one for my computers and one for my new TV+AV system. See this:http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/s...&highlight=apc. The deal maybe off. Just let you know some ways to spend money.

ocean9927,

I picked up a 3.3 ft DVI-HDMI cable from www.COMPUNATION.ca, the store is located in Ottawa, but you can order off their website. The brand is by Startech, big generic brand in making computer cables, model is ZENDVIHDMI1 cost is $48.05 + tax. It is a well made cable here is a link to the manufacture website,

http://www.cablezen.com/ItemDetail.a...CatCode=CZ1016

If you have any better luck with connection please let me know.

Cheers

I've been shopping for a bedroom set under 40" wide. I can't justify a $3000 flat panel.....it is a bedroom. Spotted the 42" and it would fit. The Sony Store would sell it to me for $2,100, plus a $150 Sony voucher. Is this reasonable or could I squeeze a much better deal at FS or a local Yokel? What has everyone else paid for the 42" without the "tuner"?

Just got next week's Sears flyer. From Dec 10 to 16, it's $2299 for the KFE50A10, plus scratch and save this weekend (min $20 off).

There's a "matching" stand for $175. I'm not sure if it's the Sony stand though. The one pictured doesn't look like it; but Sears does carry the Sony stand.

Anyway, watcher, you may be able to go back and use Futureshop's price guarantee.

If anyone wants to try their luck at Visions, they should beat it by 5%. That's $2185!!

There are no model numbers listed, so you'll have to do some legwork to make sure it's the KFE50A10. I'm pretty sure, as they had these prices 4 weeks or so ago.

Sears has had the 42" KFE A10 for $1999 almost every week. It's on sale for that next week (maybe right now as well). They have scratch and save coming up for a minimum additional $20 off. You can also take the $1999 price and price match at Futureshop, Bestbuy, or Visions. Visions price match will give you the best deal as they're supposed to beat other prices by 5%, it would equate to $1900 if it works.

Cool - thanks for the heads up!

Where do you get your flyer? I live in a teeny tiny village that has a teeny tiny Sears outlet, and they don't always get the retail flyers. But I'm heading to The Big City tomorrow (London) and may just pop into a Sears store if my local outlet doesn't have that flyer.

It sure would be something if that matching stand is the Sony one!

It's the Dec 10 - 16 flyer. They usually have 2 flyers every week, one for just the weekend and one for the entire week; it's the latter one. It's right on the front page. I'm in Vancouver but I think it should be a national flyer.

PS, only half the TV is pictured and the stand that it's on is not the Sony one. I wouldn't be too worried though because there's still a chance it's a Sony stand. The best way to find out is to visit the store to find out the manufacturer's model numbers. You may also be able to find out over the phone. I'll give you the SKUs:

50" TV: 14722
50" stand: 36339

There's also a very long phone order number for all 4 items (TV and stand of both sizes). I don't know what it's for:

prelude93,

I might change my mind on buying a HDMI-DVI cable. 2 reasons:
1. Your not so good experience. I am happy with the component video cable now.
2. instead of connecting HDMI-DVI on TV-HD box, I am thinking to use a HDMI-HDMI to connect TV-DVD player( also my home theatre). I am using s-video cable currently.

There is no way I can hook up the TV-HD box (HDMI-DVI) and TV-home theatre (HDMI-HDMI) at the same time unless I can find a HDMI-DVI switch or hub (Does this product exist?). So I don't think I want to buy 2 cables ( not the price but I know I will only use one cable for sure) and switch back and forth between TV-HD box and Home theater system. Sounds pretty complicated, right?

Today is my 2nd day on watching the HD channels. Awesome!

I was going to wait until January or February for price drops, but if I can get the 50" KFE + Sony Stand for $2475, I'd jump right now. That blows away anything we've seen thus far. So if anyone finds out if that's the "real" Sony stand, please post here

ocean9927,

Your options are probably a good idea, switched out my 3250 HD box for nother and I still have the same problem with red noise on HD channels. Every direction I turn FS sales guy, Rogers Cable desk , Rogers CSR, all say that component is the route to go. I guess I will also switch out my cable for a HDMI-HDMI to have for future use.

Cheers

Looks like lots of folks love the Sony match stand.

Well I picked up one "match" stand for my KFE50A10 from IKEA. This one is not matching my TV but my hardwood floor. It is practical for loading all my A/V gears and still have room for kid's DVDs/Video tapes. And did I mention it is cheaper!
