The Sears ad that I have shows the sale dates being from today, the 19th, until Thursday, the 24th.
I also have the Tepperman's flyer - they have the KDFEs - (ad says built in HD ATSC tuner) for $2398 (42") and $2998 (50") WITH the stand. That sale started yesterday (Friday) and is for 4 days only. |

Just note that the Teppermans deal does not include the matching stand. It is just a generic stand. Looks OK to me...but I think it's possible to find a better deal buying the TV and stand seperately.

My head is beginning to spin
Like everyone else, I want the best deal (don't care about the tuner, I don't have an OTA antenna) and this store has that price, that store has this price, with the stand, without the stand, KFE, KDFE.....sheesh |

Prolly your cheapest stand, at least for the 42A10, is the Ikea Stormark.
Looks nice! But I was leaning towards the 50" because my couch is 10' away from my current tv. (a 33" 13 year old RCA that is looking smaller by the minute )Too bad Ikea doesn't make that stand one size larger for the 50". |

Okay I did some poking around. Seems like when the KFE's come out, $1999 will be a common sale price around the Holidays. That you can bank on.
FutureShop and Best Buy ARE getting these TVs, they're already in their systems and the warehouse has some on order (though they're not available yet). Store cost for the 42" is just under $1600. |

So I guess I had a good deal for the KDF-E42A10 @1999.98 and I also got the Stormak stand at Ikea for $79 + taxes.....Future shop actually matched the Sears pricing that showed the 42 inch too but no indication it was a KFE. |

I called a Sears in Toronto today, and after I gave him the item number that someone graciously mentioned on this site, he too verified that the sale price was indeed $1999 and that they could order one from the warehouse today.
They do not have a floor model just yet though, it is still on order. |

I couldn't wait any long, so today I got a KDFE50A10 at The Brick. I was about to order the KFE50A10, but then another salesman told us that they were dropping the price of the KDF to match Tepperman's ($3000, including a stand). The stand they were including wasn't the greatest (and the girlfriend didn't really like it) so I asked if I could get the matching Sony stand instead. They let me get it, paying a $50 difference. So in the end, I paid $3050 for the KDF 50" and the matching Sony stand. Since the stand costs $450, I essentially got the TV for $2600...$100 more than the Sears one, but with a cable card slot / tuner. Hopefully I'll be able to use those sometime in the future. So I'm happy with the price I paid, and if the price goes down even more when the KFEs come out, I can probably get some money refunded through their price matching.

Well guys and gals I pulled the trigger today
I Got KDEF50A10 + original stand + delivery + taxes = $3,167.00 All that from ..... tada ... tada ... The Bay. I went to Sears and tried to figure out confusion from their flyer. They made a mistake in printing and in their system and after going through their computer and lists with a very friendly salesperson we figured out that the one in the flyer is KEF (withour tuner and cable Card slot) -- the same model they were selling it last week for $2300 is now $2500. He told me that they don't sell KDEF at all even though it is on their Web site?!? Anyways ... Last Saturday when I went to BB KDEF50A10 was $2,599 there (today it's $2,999). In order to look for other quotes I ended up in The Bay and they said they'll match the BB price and that offer is valid for a week. That was no brainer for me since my son just started working in The Bay he was told that the Bay will honour 10% employee's discount so we ended buying it today. Delivery is on December 7. |

Okay seriously folks.
Half of the reason we're all so confused is because everyone is messing up the model numbers. So far we've had just about every single different variation of K, F, E, and D. So, to clear things up: Sony KDFE42A10 (42" Original w/ tuner) Sony KDFE50A10 (50" Original w/ tuner) Sony KFE42A10 (42" without tuner) Sony KFE50A10 (50" without tuner) |

Hi Old Spark,
The picture looks very nice. Your TV matches very well with the Ikea stand. It is a shame that they do have one for 50" HDTV. I saw it from the picture that you seem to have a Philip DVD player which is the same as mine. If that is the case, can you tell me how does it work withh the A10 since I am going to get the KDFE50A10 shortly. I am concerned that it may requires a upconverting DVD player to enhance the performance of stardard DVD on a HDTV. Does DVD pictures look good on the TV? |
