After that I tried to pull out the "Sears trick" which worked for few guys here on the board in BB but these jerks called Sears and were stupid enough not to find out that it is not the same model (KDE50A10) BUT said that they need some flyer or web site quote to confirm that the price is valid (phone confirmation from Sears is not enough, I was told). Of course they checked price on Sears web site and it is $3000 or even more. All of these bastards are playing games trying to cheat one another. BB has web price for KDEF50A10 at $3,199; in this week's flyer it is $2,999; and today in the store it is listed for $2,599. Go figure! When I pointed this to the guy who was asking for "official" Sears price he didn't have comment. |

The 50 inch KDF-E50A10 was on display @ $2599 ??? Are you sure it wasn't the 42 inch ??? Anyway, At BB, salesclerck cannot negotiate prices but in Future Shop, they do...The Sears brochure did not mention it was a KFE and not the KDFE.... It only showed their own stock number with a picture of the TV which is similar in looks to the KDFE...Sears was priced @ $1999.99 for the 42 inches and $2499.99 for the 50 inches...but again, that was for the KFE, not the KDFE... |

Wow.....I was over at BB and Future shop in my area this weekend and they still had the KDFE 50 inch @$2999.99. The 42 inch was @$2499.99 or $2599.00 depending on the store... As for the Sears ad, it was definitelky for the KFE (not the KDFE) and their ad said the 42 inch @ $1999.99 and the 50 inch @ $2499.99 on "special" from their supposing regular pricing of $2299.99 and $2799.99 respectively. I wonder why their computer would contredict their own ad.....It seems to me that those two models are going to be heavily promoted for the Xmax season and prices will drop like a rock on both models commes boxing day.... |

I believe that the sale for the 50 inch was only for the weekend at sears.
I picked up the 42 inch. As 50 inch was 2 inches too big Scratch and save. first one was 20 dollars then the guy at the counter gave me another one for being a good customer |

I was told by a sales rep at Sears that the "42 A10 would be coming back on sale for $1999 on Nov 17. I wasn't ready to pull the trigger during the scratch and save sale last weekend so I will wait for my next shot. Neither the Pickering or Oshawa stores has any stock or even a model on the floor. They only had the "50 on display.

I have checked on the spec of the Sony manual. Functions missing from KFE model vs KDFE are the ATSC tuner, cable card slot, PC VGA input and optical audio output. I know the Sony brochure shows that both models have PC input, I think it means that PC input can be achieved via the side component input - by using a VGA/component adaptor cable for KFE instead of a direct VGA input at the back.

My 42" A10 is delivered tomorrow. Bought from soundsaround in Crowfoot. They're the cheapest in town I've found that is if you can get over some of the excessively greasy salesmen.

Hi everyone. This is my first post here, but I've found this forum quite useful. I'm in the same boat as a lot of people on this thread. I've been looking at the KDFE and KFE 50A10, trying to find the best price before taking the plunge. Looks like some of you are finding great deals, so I'll be keeping an eye out here and sharing any information I find out.
I'm in London, and apparently the Teppermans here has a deal for the 50" KDFE where you get the TV and a generic stand (NOT the matching Sony stand) for $3000. However, getting BB to match Sears' $2300 KFE50 price on the KDFE50 would be a much, much better deal. I also found the KFE50 at The Brick for $2150, though I was told the price goes up tomorrow (they had a 7% off sale on). I'll keep you all posted on what I find (and I'll happily share recipt scans if I find a great deal, assuming that's allowed here). Later! |

We've been lurking on this site for a while and have gotten some valuable information so thought we would share our purchase info on the KDFE42A10.
We went to Sears today to find out about the $1999/2299 deals. The sales person could not tell us of such and said on his system the price was still $2599. He did direct us to Sony to see the TV as they didn't have a floor model. We thought what the heck, even though we've seen the tv before. We spoke to the Sony guy and he knocked down the price from $2599 to $2299. They weren't able to offer a competitive financing plan so we went off to FS @ Heartland Town Centre. We walked up to the first guy on the TV floor, who looked interested in making a sale and asked what was the best price he could offer. The price on the tag was $2599 and he immediately responded $2300 + delivery. We said we would pick it up so got it for $2300. Not the best price around but not bad for GTA. Over 3 years, no interest, we can handle it. Also, FS will price guarantee from November 1 - mid January. If the price goes down, we can still get a lower price. We pick up the TV and Rogers kit on Saturday just in time for Hockey Night in Canada which we will be picking up on the ATSC tuner. |

Hi Lichee. Thanks for the info!
Just to confirm...you got the 42" A10 with the built in tuner and such, for $2300? From some of the posts above, I was under the impression that the FIFTY inch one WITHOUT the tuner (KFE50A10) was going for $2300 at Sears. Sounds like you still got a pretty good deal though. Personally I don't care much about the tuner/cable card (unless it's cheap)...though I'm hearing that it may become useful in Canada at some point. Anyone agree/disagree? Also...does anyone know if BB/FS take 10% off the price when they price match another place (e.g. Sears)? I thought that's what they did, but haven't seen anyone mention this (10% is a lot of money when we're talking thousands of dollars). |
