The case of the missing Edmonton pregnant woman and her abandoned SUV was the water cooler talk everywhere in my province the last few days. Sadly, they found a body last night, no confirmation of the body's identity...But now police have charged a suspect, her husband ...

My sister just had her baby, my sister-in-law is pregnant..this case makes me shudder to my core.

In situations like these..it's hard to remember...innocent until proven guilty...

The way she was found was a little....shifty. Kind of like the Ramsey dad finding his daughter (Jon Benet) in the basement when cops had been all over that house.

Didn't the hubby while looking for her body end up leading the people right to her, which was an entirely different spot from where the police were working?

Ya. Apparently he was with a separate group looking for her, and they came across her body.

That guy seemed guilty the first time I saw him on tv. But the police had said they ruled him out as a suspect. There was something about him though, kind of too calm for a man whose pregnant wife was missing.

This guy says he's never heard of Scott Peterson until this happened. I'm sure he will be compared to him now.

Results of the sutopsy are not out, but there was a struggle, and she was partially clothed. I think this story is not getting the play it could.

This guy also doesn't look like the sharpest knife in the drawer either. I know we shouldn't pre-judge, but dammit he has a youngster at home that needs a mother. And his actions are highly suspicious.

I find that REALLY hard to believe. Unless you lived in a cave there's no way you could have missed all the media coverage on the Peterson trial, etc.

It was reported that he/they were in serious financial trouble as well. Insurance money could be an issue. . .

I guess I have internet in my cave then.

I did recall hearing about it back then, but if a week ago you had asked me to tell you who Scott Peterson was, I wouldn't have been able to tell you.

To put any kind of positive onto this that I can, I just want to make sure that everybody knows that most major cites now have men's crisis centres that you can call. If you are in a situation where your wife is driving you crazy, and you are at the end of your rope, there is no shame in calling one of these groups to see where to turn.

Edmonton Man Found Guilty Of Killing His Wife

CALGARY/AM770CHQR - An Edmonton jury has found Michael White guilty of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of his wife Liana White, who was four months pregnant with the couple's second child.
29-year-old Liana White vanished on July 12th, 2005.
Her body was found in a ditch on Edmonton's northern outskirts five days later.
Michael White was charged with murder the next day.

There was quite a bit of evidence to support the prosecutions claims. Still a very sad story.

We were just talking about this guy the other day, what happened to him anyways, you don't here much about it now at all on the news?

That was it...there wasn't alot of coverage during the trial (at least in Calgary). They would just talk about what happened in court that day.
For such a disturbing case, it really wasn't blown out of proportion (which is a good thing for the family's sake).

Edmonton Man Sentenced For Killing Wife

CALGARY/AM770CHQR - An Edmonton man found guilty of murdering his pregnant wife and then dumping her body in a ditch has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 17 years.
Michael White looked at his hands as Justice Mary Moreau of Court of Queen's Bench read the sentence Friday morning.
A jury last week found White guilty of the second-degree murder of his wife, Liana, who was four months pregnant with the couple's second child.
Jurors also found him guilty of offering an indignity to a dead body and had recommended that he serve at least 15 years before becoming eligible for parole.
After White was found guilty, his mother-in-law revealed the couple's three-year-old daughter had witnessed at least part of the killing.
White was put on suicide watch last weekend after sustaining cuts to his throat and wrists, which he said were caused by other inmates, but which investigators suggested were self-inflicted.
