Default Robson Arms: CTV Series Returns

Mrs. Stampeder and I are now hooked on the Canadian CTV comedy "Robson Arms". This show is a hoot with a wide variety of Canadian actors, and some of the Corner Gas people show up as different characters too. The Cantonese grandma is hysterical!

I recorded the first four 30 minute episodes on my DVR so we watched them in 480p but I believe it is presented in 1080i 16x9. Can anyone confirm that?

This show is NOT for young ears and eyes.

I watched this program....not to my liking and its not HDTV. The CTV website doesn't say its HD. This thread should be moved to a different forum.

As I recall it wasn't letterboxed.......but I'm not 100% sure. I think if its letterboxed on CTV they call it HD.

You're not kidding. I was worried that my kids would see the previews for that episode. Sheesh!

I just sat through 20 minutes of this; the one where the girl from Corner Gas finds a condom in the bedroom after she gets home from a trip.

This was just waaaaay too predictable for me.

You would think with all the easy advertising money CTV gets from simi subbing they could create better programming for their can-con requirement, instead of crap like this.

You guys are crazy - we've watched 6 episodes and this is great stuff! I like the constantly changing cast of Canadian actors. Oh well, there's no accounting for taste.

Stampeder, did you see the episode I was describing? (Upcoming spoiler)
The second I saw the condom wrapper I immediately thought of the sleezy landlord or super. Then as soon as her boyfirend said he had to go, I was sure she'd cheat on him to get even.

What besides the fact that there are Canadian actors that appeals to you? I'm curious.

As I mentioned we've seen 6 episodes so far. We enjoyed all of them, and friends of ours also did. Its reminiscent in some ways of Six Feet Under but not so dour, so if that's not your cup of tea, so be it. I'm glad Robson Arms has been given a good shot from the marketing department of CTV, but I think it also has more than enough to stand on its own and develop into a truly great comedy if handled correctly. So far, so great!

Default Robson Arms Feb. 10, 2007

Robson Arms returns to CTV tonight. Definitely not for the kids! I'm glad my wife noticed because I didn't even hear a peep about it coming back.

Thanks for the heads-up. We love this show and hadn't heard anything about the new season either. Robson Arms and Corner Gas and the occasional W5 are all that we watch on CTV.
